Human
trafficking is a reality in the village I’m living in this
month.
I live among the
trafficked, the trafficker and those who
fight against it.
This
is a daily struggle for the people of Moldova. It’s rooted in fear,
manipulation, poverty and immigration. It’s so bad that in some cases young
girls freely offer themselves into the hands of dealers and become prostitutes.
They don’t know any better so they figure the life of a victim is better than the life of a a beggar on the streets of Moldova. Families
even sell their young children just to survive
and put food on the table. Orphan children under the age of 18 are the main
target and make up 40% of those trafficked.
This is a real
problem needing real solutions.
The pastor here constantly calls us into greatness and says “you are to fight! the battle is won through prayer.”
How often I
forget Papa’s BIGNESS and get lost in the moment. Experiencing the darkness and
heaviness of this country has been really challenging. I’m being stretched and re-shaped. The Lord is e x p a n d i n g my heart. I forget that the war has ALREADY been WON and DEFEATED through the life, death and resurrection of Christ Jesus. We are fighting from a place of victory!
Last week we
went on a prayer hike up this hill on the other side of the village. On the way
there we came across this park and sensed we were supposed to stop and speak
out declarations over the village. As we shouted out truths, the sun peaked
through the clouds and the light shined through the trees.
I stood there
speechless. We kept walking and finally made it to the top. I looked out over
the edge and could feel God’s presence with us. I was as if Jesus was saying
“Hey, I’m here, I haven’t left and I’m never leaving. Trust me. I love these
people more than you could ever hope to. I hear you fighting for them. I am fighting for them, I AM the
God of Light, the God of Hope, the God of Restoration. I’m active, I’m moving. Don’t
lose sight of Who I Am and Who You Are.”
God is good.
