As the foreign man sits beside me snoring loudly, I could care less. Right now I have other things to focus on- Auburn football. And way more importantly than that- how much God has blessed me to be able to watch this game. Though I’m far,far from home as I sit awake at 3am in our South African hostel, I’m enjoying a taste of home watching the national championship. Last year I would’ve never guessed Auburn would be in the national championship and 2 years ago theres no way I would have ever believe I’d be in Africa to watch it.
But here I am. God is so good. He has not only blessed me with the ability to be a student at a wondeerful university like Aubrun, but He has also brought me on the trip around the world to share His love and His words, and right now He has even combined the two for me:)
God is too good to me:) When I first rolled out of bed to watch the game and saw that someone else was already watching the community t.v. I felt a little worried, but then the man offered me the remote. Then after some conversation during the pregame show I thought this moment would be used for ministry. I figured God would use this opportunity of me teaching this man about American football to also throw in some stuff about why I am here and about God. I was wrong again. The man beside me has passed out and I am free to completely be fully focused on the Auburn game. Watching my team in the middle of the night in an African hostel is not something I expected but just another one of God’s little suprise gifts to me during this journey called the World Race.
But now back to the game….
WAAAAAAAAAARRR EAGLE! HEY!
okay. and to add to this blog, I felt so blessed to be a part of the Auburn family after the win- and it wasn’t even because of the win. I loved how when Chizik and Newton were both being glorified they both turned it around and gave the glory to God! Now I know football is something that some people struggle with as being an idol or something that put above God, which is really sad, but as much as we point out the negatives as ‘Christian’ viewers I think we should also be ecstatic when any team or any sport gives glory to God:)
