Last night. Oh what a night.

***If you have a super weak stomach or get grossed out or if you struggle with a spirit of fear- don’t read this:)
Lia, one of the racers from team Crash, was sick and needed to come into town. She was staying about 2hours outside of town up in the mountains at an orphanage. So me, Leah, and Kendra decided to ride up the mountain to go get her with some of the men who work here. I wish I had the words to descibe driving/riding in Haiti but I don’t. You can imagine for yourself. The roads are full of holes no one drives on their side of the road and we never drive in a straight line even on a straight road. Last time we made this drive we had to bring a little boy who had an eye infection down with us. He threw up on my teammate Stacey and we never even stopped the vehicle. I guess you’re getting the picture. Its just how people roll here.
So yesterday we left right after dinner and 15 minutes into the ride I started feeling sick. In haiti, I think its common for people to throw up in the car and I was pretty sure the men driving us wouldnt understand if I asked them to pull over. Luckily, we stopped to help someone who had a flat tire and I took my opportunity to get sick. After dinner was gone, it was a lot earier to ride up the bumpy gravel road. Once we got there Lia was in pretty bad shape. (Praise God!-She is doing a lot begter thanks to the missionary nurses that are also staying at Pastor Jean Claude’s house) We figured she was severely dehydrated. After we got her loaded in the car and added one more or her teammates- cameron, because he had a bad case of poison ivy- we were on our way. It wasnt too far into the drive that we passed some people needing a ride so of course they hopped in our church van. Maybe 5 minutes after they got in our tire blew. All I could think was “dear Lord please be with this trip. This is super crazy” After the guys got out and changed the tire they had to find a pump because it was flat too. Praise the Lord they found a hand pump. It was better then no pump at all. So we sat there for a long time until the tire was pumped up just enough to not scrape. The we proceded down the mountain. We dropped the guys we picked up off at some Haitian concert thing and then I prayed and worshipped the whole way back to the house. Praise the Lord! Even through the ride was wild God has His hand in all of it! As we stayed prayerful through the entire ride– He protected us and kept us safe. and Praise God because Lia just came sat beside me and is feeling much better:)
I hope this blog wasn’t too much or too gross for any of you. This is just the real World Race. These are the things that make us rely on God and we love that. Getting out of my comfortable lifestyle and working to further His kingdom is why I did this… and this is what that looks like:)
