right now I’m in the Dominican Republic with 4 other teams sitting at a Pollo Ray and waiting for a fried chicken sandwhich, fries, and a coke….life is great. last month, I really did love being in haiti but it was very hard to be there. This month will be different. I can already tell I love the DR. This morning I woke up and was a little chilled and was able to put on my pullover. woohoo!! In the DR it gets cool in the morning, they drink lots of good coffee, its sunny and warm in the day, and at night it gets cool again… what more could you want in a country?? seriously I just love it and I am going to love being here!

Here is the story of how we got here:

Last Friday night all 4 of the teams that were in Haiti came and spent the night with us at pastor jean claude’s. Then Saturday morning we woke up around 5, packed everyone up, and hopped on a short school bus at 6am. Then after about an hour we arrived at our real bus station. There we were sooo blessed in not only getting to ride on a bus with air conditioning we also had our own seat- which was not at all the case on our way into Haiti. Once we loaded that bus we drove for about 3 hours to the boarder. After some sketchy boarder crossing, we were in the DR. Another blessing to praise God about, We almost had to carry all our packs into the boarder station (? i guess you’d call it that), which wouldve been a major hassle but because we were americans, they said they didnt have to check ours:) yay. so we got back on that bus just long enough for lunch-which was provided and was amazing. rice beans, goat, and slaw. About the time I swallowed the last bite our bus started up a hill. Fail. so we unloaded- because we are the healthy young americans so it could make it up the hill, which wasn’t very steep at all. After it finally made it up they told us to unload our things and that we would be put on a different bus. Hours later we were in Santo domingo. we unloaded then loaded another bus. It took us to the next bus station and then we loaded another bus. Bus #5 is the one we arrived on. we got to our ministry site at about 10pm or later…i’m not really sure but it was all day on buses. but now we are here:)

its amazingly beautiful here. we are living with 3 other teams and working with 1 other team, team SOAR. We will be working together doing VBS and teaching and other stuff with an really cool girl named Emily who has been doing ministry here with AIM since she graduated high school. I love her!

Anyways, I have to go but I will be writing more later. Please keep my best friend Dakota in your prayers and her future husband, Hunter!! Me and Kota have been best friends for over 15 years and she is getting married this weekend! ahhh! I really havent thought about it because the second I do I might possibly breakdown. But please pray for their marraige and pray that I will have peace about missing this huge event that I would absolutely looove to be a part of…
