Did you know that Cambodia is one of the most heavily bombed countries in the world? During the Vietnam War, the Unites States and South Vietnam dropped bombs across the countryside in an attempt to stop the Viet Kong and Khmer Ruge. Over 2 million tons of bombs were dropped, causing countless deaths. Many survivors were injured or made refugees.
Now there are thousands of small lakes dotting the landscape of Cambodia. They look beautiful; huge water lilies grow in many of the ones in the area we lived. People here use them for fishing and irrigation. What was intended for harm is now being used for good.
God loves to do this with us. He uses the ugliness, the hurt, the brokenness, in our lives to bring healing, redemption, beauty. God is a redeemer, using all things for his glory. He makes all things new.
We came into this year, 48 broken people, and God has wrecked us for His Kingdom and made beautiful things out of us. Check out this awesome video my squad mate Emily made of the transformation we have experienced this year!
