Jesus was controversial. He was constantly going against the grain and saying crazy things like “blessed are the poor.”
The truth is that in the Kingdom of God, the rules are pretty much backwards to everything we have ever been taught and believed.
If we want to be great, we should humble ourselves because the least will be the greatest. If we want to be first, we have to be last. In order to live, we have to die to ourselves
The thing we need the most we should to give away because in order to receive, we have to give.
God’s power is made perfect in our weaknesses, therefore it is in our weakest moments that we are the most strong. Feeling vulnerable and inadequate is the best place to be. We have to do things that we are unable to accomplish on our own, because otherwise God is not in it.
If there is resistance, that is not a sign to flee, but rather a good indication that we are right where we need to be. The thing we are most afraid of we have the most power in.
This is how the Kingdom of God operates, and while it seems backwards, the truth is that it is the world we have been used to that is upside down and the Kingdom which makes sense.
