I miss you all greatly, and pray that the Lord is doing great things back in Covington KY, and all the surrounding areas.  Just in case yall didn’t know, Kentucky is known all around the world… every time I tell people where I am from they all are like… “KFC!!!”… Who would have thought???

Let me update yall on what I am doing this year just incase people don’t know.  I am on a mission trip for 11 months to 11 countries called the World Race.  I am traveling with 27 other people from around the US and Canada.  The trip itself is all about abandoning ever comfort, packing up a backpack and a tent and heading around the world.  The goal is to walk, talk, and live like Jesus.  My team and I left the US on the 5th of January… we began our pilgrimage… we began our process of becoming more like our Savior, Jesus Christ.

So here I am, at the beginning of week 8 of the trip.  The first five weeks of our trip were spent in Chincah, Peru working with two local communities: Los Jardines (small community of 50 families) and Tambo De Mora (a refugee camp of over 300 families).  I don’t know how many of you know this but part of Peru was hit by a massive earthquake in August 2007, which left 1000’s of Peruvians homeless, over 500 dead, and many people without hope.  Millions of dollars were given to help these people, but somewhere along the line none of the money made it to these poor people.  So, 5 months after the earthquake people are still without running water, electricity, bathrooms, homes, jobs… you name it.  So we came into Peru, being open to what the Lord wanted to us to do, and sought out direction.  Here are some of the different things we ended up doing during the 5 weeks: VBS, home visits, construction, fumigation, church services, making a community garden, men’s night ministry, getting community bathrooms, building relationships, sharing our hope in Jesus with people, a community showing of the “Passion of Christ” in one of the local plaza’s, providing food for families, praying with families, playing with children, moving massive piles of rubble, and many more that I cant think off the top of my head..  God met us in Peru, and we were able to plant so many seeds of hope with the people we came in contact with.

Once we left Chincah, Peru we headed off to Nauta, Peru; which is where I currently am.  Let me tell you a little bit about this place.  It’s in the Amazon… that’s right… I’ve never seen so many mosquitoes in my life!  Pants and Long sleeves are a must in the morning and when the sun starts going down.  Our living situation is found on a houseboat floating on the Amazon.  One of the Pastor’s we are working with had a vision to build a boat, had no supplies, and within a year the Lord provided everything and he built this boat.  So we truly are living on a blessing from the Lord.  Very tight living space.  The community here is about 18,000 people and there are only about 11 true Christian Churches.  The first week here we have been putting on a program for the children up to age 10 called Fiesta Con Dios “Party with God”.  Its our Spanish version of VBS… Anyways, we are having about 200 kids show up for this program.  We are currently teaching the Salvation Bracelets to them.  The Lord is really opening up doors through the children to build relationships.  Last night we had a huge youth event where we showed the “Passion of the Christ” and shared the gospel.  We are also meeting with a group of youths every day from 5-6 for disciplining.  We are only here for one more week and we plan to see the Lord show up in amazing ways.  We will continue with Fiesta Con Dios and also with the youth program, and building relationships.

So that’s what’s happening.  The Lord is continuing to grow me, and reveal himself to me through his Word and his work.  If yall would like to follow my path around the world a little closer check out my blog site: www.rachelhunt.theworldrace.org I put up video’s and pictures quite often of what the Lords doing and what life is like around the world.

I am still not completely supported for the trip as of yet.  My goal is still to raise 16,800 dollars and I am currently at about 10,000.  No worries though.  I know that the Lord is going to provide for me to do his work around the world.  If the Lord lays it on your heart to help support me on my journey in living like Jesus around the world you can go to my blog site and click on the link that says support me (on the left side of the page), and simply follow the directions.

I really appreciate everyone’s prayers so much!  Ways you can pray for me:  Good health, boldness in sharing the gospel, breaking down language barriers, complete support, and a good attitude…

I love yall.  Looking forward to the time I come home and can see everyone’s faces again.  Praying for you all continually.

Your sister in Christ,
Rachel Hunt

P.S. Here are the places I will continue onto after Nauta Peru:  Iquitos Peru, Bolivia, Africa, India, Nepal, Cambodia, and Thailand… and hopefully Jerusalem at the end of the trip if I can afford it! (other places will be added in along the way)
