Isaiah 1:10-17

Imagine God telling our top national religious leaders to stop holding church services!  The Isrealites were doing all the right things, performing all the prescribed rituals or worship, but God pointed out their attitudes.  In this passage, God addresses Judah figuratively as Sodom and Gomorrah because, like these two sinful cities, Judah was not following God.  They were more concerned with the acts and rituals than they were about God’s will.
Evidence that their worship was not genuine was their lack of concern for others.  It was merely a charade, and as such, it was deeply offensive to God.  True worship flows out into service in the wider community.  God wanted his people to be internally motivated to “seek justice, encourage the oppressed” and champion the causes of the orphans and widows.

One Church in Fresno, California, was busy with preparations for a worship service to celebrate Easter.  As the people rehearsed and prayed in advance of the day, the Lord began to stir their hearts toward the Asian refugees liging in nearby apartment buildings.  On Easter Sunday, church members went throughout the neighborhood delivering gifts and Easter baskets, inviting all to a dinner and celebration at church.  The outreach begun that weekend continued for several months, and many in the neighborhood recieved Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

If our hearts are truly full of worship, we will also be motivated to reach out to others in tangible ways.

i usually  think of worship as musically speaking. but it’s more than that… it’s everything we do… and all that we say that brings Glory to God… the ways in which we conduct ourselves with others… family, friends and strangers.
the way we treat people when they have nothing to give us in return.
it’s these times that are also considered worship… knowing that God is smiling down on me / you / us  and proud of who we are becoming.  a journey back to Him.  some may stroll, skip, run and stumble… but back into His arms is where i want to be… worshiping Him every stumble and step of the way…
