1 Peter 3:3-4
Your adornment must not be merely external – braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.
Let‘s pick this apart.
¤External…What are we doing to beautify our hearts?
¤When we are constantly concerned about our outer appearance. Diets, exercise regemines, cosmetic surgeries, botox… we‘re women… it‘s what we do… GENERATIONALLY – SOCIETY – PERSONAL EXPECTATIONS
¤NOW don‘t get me wrong… I have partaken in all of these… and they are not BAD… Forbidden. But are they things we can think about –OBESESS OVER or hold in greater importance than the condition of our heart.
¤I never realized the IMPORTANCE OF THE HEART UNTIL I STARTED TO SEE MINE CHANGE ONLY BECAUSE OF GOD!
¤I stand before you 30lbs heavier than I‘d like to be … but at complete peace in my heart about it‘s condition… or the conditioning process it’s in…
¤God has refined my heart and my mind is starting to catch up with it…
The hidden person of the heart…
¤You know the phrase to “wear your heart on your sleeve“
¤A beautiful heart is something that is seen regardless of someone‘s exterior
¤After meeting someone for the first time… what are you left with… the impression of their heart… did it make an impression on us? How did they make us feel…
how they expressed their heart… and how they made our heart feel?
¤Our hearts need working on, they need refining.
¤We have agreed to many lies that the enemy throws at us, and still do. Lies that have tainted our heart, broken our heart, and allowed us to give our heart to many – many things that are not lovely, pure, and holy.
Philippians 4:7-9
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard you hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me-practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

– I want to add -> as the heart is – our wardrobe reflects (I gotta relate it to clothes… it’s a big part of who we are as women… expressing ourselves…
¤imperishable quality – wardrobe… we look for quality… lasting… we can wear it many times… we justify it’s WORTH on the quality…
God paid a price for us to posess an imperishable quality of our heart…

2.) highly esteemed for some spiritual non material or moral quality: precious memories.
3.) Dear beloved: a precious child
4.) excessively delicate; refined, or nice.
Noun: A dearly beloved person; darling.
¤Precious Moments (the figurines)
¤Those things were a hit for years. There were glass ones, dolls, coloring books, bibles, all kinds of things. You remember those? They are a collectible.
¤I remember when I was younger, the only thing I collected was these dolls. I would save my money, first communion, and birthdays to go down to the Synder Drug store and buy a new doll.
¤It‘s because we were emotionally moved by their beauty, their sweet innocence, the situations they were in. A puppy and spilled milk, a baby carried by their diaper, a little girl giving a flower…. They are precious. These situations, these moments captured are precious… very fitting.
We are His precious moments.
¤We are handcrafted and collected by Him.
¤He treasures us, holds us in high regard, and He paid a HIGH PRICE for us.
¤He gave His only Son Jesus to collect us back from a fallen world.
¤He loves us and cherishes us… just as we cherish, beloved and treasured things.
¤What kind of things do we treasure? Do you know that word says in Matthew 6:21 “For where your treasure is, there your heart is also.“ What are you treasuring? If you don‘t quite know, off the top of your head… maybe this will help you to figure it out. Matthew 12:34 “For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.“
¤So? What are you speaking? What could you talk about for hours and hours… what get‘s you excited? I know now that I can talk about the Lord and all that He is to me, all that He has taught me, how He loves me… etc.
¤I‘ll tell you what I used to be able to talk your ear off about…
¤Interior design – diets and exercise – shopping – celebrities and gossip – entertainment and so on…
¤Not that I can‘t still rattle on about those things I enjoyed… and some still do… but God wasn‘t in the mix, nor did He hold the greatest of importance.
God most definitely pursued me… ONLY after I begged Him to take over… to take it ALL.
May ‘08– I was sick of myself… CRIED out to GOD to do something with me and do it fast, and drastic. (note: this is called a “DANGEROUS PRAYER”)
Mission work introduced…“not for me“
June – July – was a crazy woman… partying, approval of man, paranoid of what others thought of me… bulimic…
Late August applied to World Race… accepted days later…
Started fundraising in Sept.
Healed of Eating disorder in Oct.
Major fundraising in Nov Dec… and Left for the World Race in Jan of ‘09
I gave up everything I knew… I couldn‘t stand myself and my selfishness anymore. God grabbed my heart in Feb in a personal and romantic, intimate way… and it‘s been quite a relationship since.
First heart was in Haiti… I wrote a blog about falling in love with God in Haiti… (head over heels in love … something… )
onto… Hearts… given… throughout the year.

What He said about 3 weeks ago here at church during worship.
He said “Your heartbeat is music to My ears”
“A heart that beats for Me is music to My ears. Even if you were to never open your mouth and sing a single note again.”
“We are in a relationship you and I. Relationships require give and take… You give Me the music notes of your heartbeat and I give you back “love notes” too.”

¤Unique to Your relationship with them.
¤May they find security, acceptance and love in Your arms.
¤So that they can be the joyful, fruitful, confident and the beautiful women You created them to be.
