One afternoon our contact pulled up to our place and asked if some of us would come along to pray for a sick child named Peter. Carly and I hopped in the truck and went to a nearby village. I wasn't sure how old or sick this child was but it seemed urgent. When we arrived a small boy slowly came out of his hut with a bouncing dog right by his side and shook our hands. It was 10 year old Peter. He was the size of a 5 year old. He has both AIDS and cancer. He hasn't been able to eat so you can only imagine. He sat down beside me and my heart melted. I asked him what his dogs name was and he understood my English. It was Simba! He loves learning but can no longer go to school, somehow his English was more impressive than most of the people I had met in the village. This sweet boy stole my heart. When I asked him if he knew how much Jesus loved him, he said in his raspy voice, "yes, yes I know…this much!!" and he stretched out his arms as big as they could go . Pure joy washed over his face. Praise the Lord! We went into prayer and Peter closed his eyes believing in our Lord God. Peter has no mother or father. They have both died from AIDS so he is left to be taken care of by an elderly woman. Please join me in prayer for him.
