14 Racers. 53 Hours. Three Buses. Eight Taxis. One Hostel, One Night On A Ferry, One Ferry,  and One Barf Bag.

No Fighting? Priceless.

We made it into Ometepe, Nicaragua.

I really had no idea what to expect.

Thankfully, there was a layout of the town right off the ferry 🙂

But as we waited for the bus from the orphanage, sitting on our big packs and eating pan dulce, I was hit with the fact that Month one on the Race was over. Guatemala was in the past, Nicaragua was the present. We had taken a step foward on the Race. But we had also taken a step back concerning the time we have on this crazy adventure. We now have less than 10 months on this journey. CRAZY.

After 15 minutes driving slowly
down a semi-paved road, we turned onto another road that was full holes the
size of a large cow. When we arrived at the orphanage, we were taken to our
dorm like living quarters (all 9 single girls are bunking together).

After throwing our stuff on the beds, we were taken to the Rancho.

!

That structure down there is the Rancho. It is full of hammocks, and overlooks the Lake. I could not believe my eyes. I am still in light shock that we get to live here for a month.

Though it has not been all fun and games. We eat breakfsast with the kids at 7:00AM, then go to work around 8ish. The women have been working in the garden, which sounds easy but is very difficult when the sun is beaming on you and your skin is cooking like bacon. The men have been digging large rocks out of the ground to build up the rock wall that is protecting the orphanage from eroding into the Lake.

So yes. We are blessed to be here with Team Lovebound. We will not have frequent internet, so sorry if I don´t write very often. Love you all, and thanks for keeping up with my blogs, those of you who care enough to read them.

Until Next Time!
