(Will be updated as the month goes on)

-Spiders are apparently going to be getting bigger each country we go to…

-Contamination is your lungs enemy on a daily basis.

-The roosters really do crow ALL NIGHT.

-The local people really will give up their beds and food, and go without, for you.

-Unpacking and packing your giant backpack really does happen everyday.

-You can be surrounded by poverty and joy at all times.

-It is extremely HOT during the day, and FREEZING at night.

-This country is full of suffering, and full of some of the most beautiful scenery I have every seen.

-That there are multiple active volcanoes, 1 which we climbed a few days ago (that erupted 4 months ago!)

(El Pacaya)
-The people of Guatemala live off of corn, rice and beans. Mainly corn in multiple ways.

-The children are so adorable and giving! They will often give us food (with their parents permission) just for us playing with them for a few minutes.

-Our definition of clean and the locals definition of clean are many days apart.

-Unlike in the States, Guatemalans say ‘good morning, good afternoon, good evening’* to everyone they walk by. They may even throw in a ‘how are you?’**

-Shopping for food is a little more complicated due to the exchange rate. (For example, a pound of peppers is 18.95Q, which comes out to about $2.30USA.)

-Internet is a privilege, not a RIGHT.

-Earplugs are a necessity at night. Seriously.

-People ride motorcycles with their young children in front of them. (Like, 60+ MPH)

DO NOT SWALLOW THE WATER! You will probably throw up/have diarrhea, or both at the same time.

-Keep all of your possessions near you. Otherwise you will never see them again. Ever.

To Be Continued…
