Hello friends! Welcome to my blog that will follow me along as I venture off on ‘The World Race’.

My name is Rachel and I am 26 years old. I am an adventurer, lover of laughter and new things, but most importantly I am a daughter to the King of all creation.

I was born&raised in upstate NY. I moved to Canton, OH to attend Malone University. After graduating I worked for the University for two years as an admissions counselor. I recently quit my job to pursue the race. I lived in Sarasota, FL for about 3 months to spend some quality time with my boyfriend and his family before I leave. I am currently residing back home with my parents in NY until I launch.

I grew up in a family of 5, with my mom and dad, and my two sisters.

family :)

Meet my family! From left to right: Matt (my brother-in-law), Laura (my older sister), Jasper (my nephew), Emily (my younger sister), dad, mom, and me. [not pictured is Karl, Emily’s NEW fiance. Also not pictured are my other nephew hank and niece Nala]

Also…here is a picture of my boyfriend (Jon) and I. We have been dating for 4 years! 🙂

FAQ about him and I regarding the race:
Is he going on the race with me? No.
What are we going to do for the race? Were taking things a day at a time, we are committed to each other and where we are going in this current season. He is so supportive of me going on the race and I fully support him in his decision to pursue his passions as well 🙂

A little bit more about me….

During my time at Malone University I discovered my passion for travel. I love experiencing God and His love for me through people, different cultures and the vastness of His creation. It’s allowed me to realize and to continue to understand the freedom that He gave to us on the cross.

(I love this picture, when I look at it, I think about the word “freedom”)

Ways that I am currently being challenged/stretched:

Identity-Understanding more of who I am in Christ. Realizing and learning about how tightly I have had my identity wrapped up in the wrong things.
Praise– Somewhere along the way, I’ve made a habit of my praise and worship being conditional. In every circumstance I need to seek Him and however that looks, He enjoys me regardless and understanding that praise can take lots of different forms.
Fear/trust-I fear a lot and learning that with being fearful, I am most likely negating that I believe that God is who He says He is and that He is BIGGER than everything.
Blogging-I have an insecurity about articulating myself via written communication, so blogging seems like a big challenge for me on this adventure. I hope to grow as I go along and want so desperately to share this experience in this way.

A year ago I received a Ukulele from my boyfriend, Jon, for Christmas. I am slowly learning to play it and so far, I really enjoy it. Through it I’ve found a new form of worship, it’s been fun! With that said, I struggle with being self-conscious about my playing/singing in front of others and it has been an area I am being stretched.

I don’t know what this journey will bring, but all I can say is that I am SUPER excited. Thank you for reading and for going along on this adventure with me….
