So now that July has passed and we have moved on from Honduras I decided to give those at home and any future racers interested in what my first month was a like a little recap.

Where we were:  We stayed near Tegucigalpa, Honduras at a ministry called "Zions Gate"  check them out at http://www.facebook.com/zionsgatehonduras

What we did:  We built relationships with the boys who were from the streets of Los Pinos and now lived at Zions Gate away from a life consumed with drugs, alcohol, abuse, robbery, ect. We went once a week and ministers to girls at INFA, a home for girls in similar situations as the boys, basically an orphanage. We went into Los Pinos and ministered to the families. We did dramas for the community, as well as going to the trash dumps to feed and bring hope to the men women and children who live and work there.

What we ate: This month we had a contact who was originally from the states so we didn't really have anything to out of the ordinary. They served hot dogs, mac n cheese, spaghetti, and if we wanted to buy snacks they were not very difficult to come by.

Living Conditions:Our entire squad was together and… future world races, this DOES happen: we stayed in our tents all month. Some were outside and others sent up inside a large room in the ministry (the site used to be a dance club so this was the main room of that) We also set up hammocks inside and outside. (my ENO is one of my favorite WR purchases). The bathroom was co-ed which was funny. Cold showers, internet once a week, laughter every day. The one thing I truly missed this month was a couch, but now I'm so used to sitting on the ground I do it even when I don't have to.

What I learned: I learned so much more about love. I learned about how to see myself the way the Father does, and once I was able to do that it changed the way I see everything and EVERYONE else. I learned that the deeper I love HIM and Trust HIM the more depth I can have in every other relationship. The love of God is the perfect foundation for a life full of purpose. He taught me that I was enough and that HE was proud of me… not because I was doing missions, but just because I was His daughter, and He showed me how to rest in that.
