This is what's happening this month…
I have to say I have a new respect for preachers after these last couple weeks.  We’ve spent every night and three times on Sundays preaching at our church.  Whew!
We'll be here until January 13th, then head to Mbarara, Uganda.

Where are you?
We’re working with Gospel Center Church just  outside the capital city of Rwanda, Kigali.  Most of  you probably know of the genocide that happened  here in the early ‘90’s.  We were able to go the Genocide Memorial in the city.  We learned a lot about what happened and how it came about.

Seeing the city now you’d never guess anything like that had happened.  It’s a pretty developed city and has some of the nicest buses we’ve been on.
It’s obvious there are still many people who  struggle to get by, though.

A few days ago, a  water pipe burst near our house and was flowing  out onto the road.  There was a river of muddy water flowing on the ground that people were filling containers with because they don’t have running water at their houses.

What are you doing for ministry?
In the mornings, we hold a short devotion for the sewing school at the church.  We painted the inside of the church a few days ago.  The paint quality isn’t the best but the people at the church seemed pleased with it.  We’ve also done some house visits and evangelizing.  We do a lot of dancing while we’re at church!  The worship is great.

Every night we have a service at the church and one of us preaches.  I have to say I have a new respect for preachers after these last couple of weeks.  I feel like I’m always preparing my next sermon to give!

What’s life like?
This month we have it really nice.  We’re living with Pastor Moses, his wife, and their two young daughters.  The four girls on my team are sharing a small room with 2 sets of bunk beds so we’re thankful for our own beds.  The boys have another bedroom in the house.  There’s a bathroom with a toilet, running water, and a showerhead.  And I’m sitting at a dining room table typing this.  We haven’t had one of those since month one!

We’re their fourth WR team so they understand the foods we like and American culture.  Breakfast is usually a huge omelet, pineapple, and bananas.  For lunch and dinner we have potatoes, carrots, peas, cucumbers, rice, and usually some type of beef.  They’re taking good care of us!

We do have a lot of down time because ministry is only a few hours each day so we try to find ways to fill our time.  It’s a struggle for me because as many of you know I don’t like to not be doing anything!  But, I know the work we’re doing here is needed so I’m making the most of it.
