This month my team is in the small town of Bugiri. This is the smallest town I’ve been in for ministry in Africa. There’s one strip on the road with a post office, small shops, bicycle shop, bank, and not much else. There’s a hole-in-the-wall internet café that I’m sitting in right now. It’s slow but super cheap- costs about 1 cent/minute!
We’re living in two rooms with mattresses on the floor. We have an outhouse out back for a toilet and a room we can bring a tub of water into to wash with.
These are some things that have happened so far:
Sharing the message of God’s love to 40 men in a prison
Praying for people in the local hospital
Cows giving me a wake up call every morning right outside my window
Getting to know each of the women on my team as we share our life stories and have discussions together
Our team singing a song at a crusade and being asked to dance on stage for worship when we were finished
SWEATING every time I walk outside- this is the hottest month of the year in Uganda
Beginning a month of healthy habits- all 5 of my team have got up at 7 am every morning so far to work out!
Hearing children yell, “muzungus!” (white people) wherever we go
Random power outages for hours at a time in our house (which isn't a big deal-there's only one lightbulb in each room anyways!)
Going from hut to hut in the village to share the Gospel and seeing people accept Christ
