Have you ever had random connections with people in places you go? Like finding ou you have mutual
friends, or have been to the same places?
This has happened to me more times than I can count in the last 2 months! I keep meeting people and we’ll strike up a conversation and find out we have so much in common.
Let me try to give you an idea of some of these:
-The 7th Spring camp we were working at in Romania was started by Global Outreach, a missions organization that I first heard about when I went to Haiti on a mission trip and stayed at their compound there. My good friends, the Runks, are planning to move to Haiti to work as long-term missionaries there.
– One of the cities we visited in Romania was Arad. While I was there I found out that’s the exact city that my good friends, the Lucases, had just led a mission trip to. And they visited Cetate Soimos, the ruins of the medieval city that we went to that’s only 10 min from where we were working.
-The Lucases daughter, Connie, has been dying to work at Asha Mission in India where we’re at this month. They’d be so blessed to have you come here Connie! I hope it works out
– Mrs. Holder, (my sister-in-law’s mom) and her daughter, Bethany, went on a mission trip to Arad, Romania a few years ago.
– I met a man at the camp in Romania who lived in Asheville, NC for four years. It’s funny talking with a stranger about places you’ve both eaten at and been to at home when you’re half a world away from it all!
-The first day we arrived at Asha Mission there was a christian lady from a local church visiting the kids. I found out that she has been to Asheville and also visited the Biltmore Estate.
-Jamie, a man also working at Asha for awhile and spends a lot of time hanging with our team, is from TN and has been to Sugar Mtn, where I go skiing every year.
All of these people are working for the same purpose- to bring the kingdom of God to earth by sharing the love of Christ wherever we go. It’s amazing that when we all have the same goal we end up sharing other commonalities as well.
I think that each of the people we’ve met hasn’t been coincidence but divine appointments set by God for a specific purpose. We’ve been able to encourage long-term missionaries as well as pour into new believers. It really has me excited about meeting new people and hearing their stories, where they’ve been and what they’ve done.
