The two-day revival in the bush in Uganda was drawing to a close. Each of my 4 teammates and I had preached both days and had an amazing time dancing and worshipping with over 200 Ugandans under a weather-beaten tarp set up for shade in the hot sun.
We had been there almost 7 hours that day and I have to admit I was tired and ready to leave. But God had bigger things planned than me going home to rest.
The pastor called for anyone who needed prayer to come up front. Many people came forward, hands outstretched to receive prayer.

My teammates and I spread out and began to pray, along with several pastors who were there from other churches. I quickly realized this was not a regular prayer time.
The woman I was praying for began shaking, tears running down her cheeks. A couple pastors came over and began praying for her as well, shouting their prayers. She began shouting, “No! NO!”.
The noise and chaos grew as this began happening all around me. I saw people fall to the floor, shaking and flailing in the dust on the ground.

I realized that I was seeing the power of the devil at work in these people as they began manifesting demons.
We all shouted our prayers while the people being prayed for were yelling and crying out. The benches were cleared and children were told to back away. I continued praying for this woman and had to take a step back to avoid being hit. “Satan, I command you in the name of Jesus, get out!! You have no power in this woman’s life! Holy Spirit, fill her with You!
This went on as we prayed for more people.
Savannah and Kendall, praying for two women
My heart was beating wildly. I’d never seen anything like this before and didn’t know what was going to happen next. It was a little scary because I knew we were dealing with powers I had never really dealt with before. But, I also knew that the power of God was there and He was being glorified through what was happening. Because freedom was happening.
Each of these people began to calm down and stopped yelling and flailing.
They had been freed.
These people had all been in bondage and this was the day of deliverance for them. It gave me chill bumps as I looked around and thought about what had just happened.
These people had been delivered. I prayed a prayer of thankfulness as we were leaving and the crusade came to an end, for real this time.
2 Corinthians 3:17- Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
