Uganda is known as the Pearl of Africa.
Why, you might ask? Because of the many rolling hills, crystal clear lakes, lush forests, snow topped mountains, and fertile plains.
From Kenya we’ll travel west a short distance to arrive in Uganda, our seventh destination on the race.
In this preparation stage I am focusing on one country a week and praying specifically for it. Pray with me for these countries. By doing this we are able to come together in prayer as the body of Christ and pray for change in these countries and the hearts of the people there.
Of course, many people have heard of Uganda as it is a popular place for short term mission trips and has a large christian population there.

Some things you may not know is that…
Uganda used to be a British province and gained independence in 1962.
the majority of Ugandans claim to be Christian
Uganda has the world’s youngest population with the median age being 15 years
the population is about 34,000,000
official language is English (taught in schools and used for business purposes). Swahili is also widely used
the size of Uganda is slightly smaller than Oregon

Praises:
There has been a revival and spiritual growth for the last several years. There is a strong evangelical presence in the country. Church attendance is high and public prayer is common, even in government and judicial buildings.
What you can pray for:
-The AIDS epidemic that is widespread. This causes high mortality rates, lower life expectancy, higher death rates, and an overall younger population. There are over 1 million people in Uganda with AIDS.
-Pray for peace with the surrounding countries and within the country as there are many rebels, gangs, and militias that stir up fighting.
-That the government will act with honesty and integrity and show a real concern for its own people.
