I came into this month desperate to see God. It’s month ten and to be honest I’m a little exhausted, but also not ready to go home. There’s so much more to see, so much more to do, so much of God to experience. It is a battle between the two emotions. So that being the case, my prayer coming into this month was “God I don’t want to miss a thing, Lord let me see you in a tangible way.” I was desperate; I am desperate, for MORE, before this race ends. I have so many mixed emotions, which words don’t seem to do justice. The beauty of prayer though, is that not a single one ever comes back void, and they are usually answered in ways my brain could not even fathom to ask. This month just that happened. I’ve met angels twice, and its only the beginning…
So the beautiful disaster of eating for 11 months in other countries is that their major food group is carbs. I find myself scooping up my rice/potato mix with my fresh baked roll. So for the sake of balance in my life, I’ve tried to go to the gym or run this month. The first day trying to go to the gym, my teammate and I hopped on the bus, thinking we had this whole public transportation thing figured out. Come to find out we didn’t. We ended up in a really unfamiliar, and as we later found out, dangerous, part of town. Unsure of what else to do we began to walk and look for anything familiar that we could find. As we began to realize just how lost we were, a couple who looked like they worked out, dressed in neon shirts began walking towards us. We stopped them, and in very broken Spanish asked if they new where the gym we were looking for was located. They looked at each other, laughed and proceeded to tell us how incredibly lost we were in a part of town we shouldn’t be in, but offered to walk us to the gym. We had a little broken conversation on the way with them to the gym and they glowed with love and kindness. It was so clear they were sent from God for us that day. This couple knew everyone along the way and walked 30 minutes with us to make sure we got to the gym safely. They invited us to meet up with them another day at their gym and simply just showered us in kindness. After our workout we knew where the bus stop was, so while we were waiting, the couple walked past us again, and right after the bus showed up. I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that we had met angels that day, the Lord sent them to guide and protect us; to show us a glimpse of His glory, love and protection over His children.
God doesn’t just stop at showing us one thing; He gives us spiritual breakthroughs to help us see Him clearer from that point forward. So about a week or so later, we were on a bus going to the lake for our off day, when an older woman gets on decked out in orange and purple (go Clemson!), my teammate pointed out the outfit and immediately my attention was on her, there was something special about her, something comforting. The bus ride was a little over an hour, so we ended up sitting near each other. She kept talking to me asking my name, other facts and whatever we could manage to communicate. A vendor then came on the bus selling a Jello-like treat. At the time I was fighting off a cold and sore throat, so I thought, ‘shoot I’d love some grape jell-o’ before I knew it, she had bought too and was offering me the grape one!! She handed it to me and told me it was for my sore throat. Baffled I asked how she knew I had a sore throat?! To which she just pointed up and told me that the Lord had told her. She then helped us get to our destination and told us when we needed to catch the bus.
The Lord has continuously showed me angels this month. Sending them to bless, guide and shower me in His love. Here’s the beauty of these stories: the Lord is romancing you too, showering you in His love and affection for you each day, just keep your eyes peeled and you’ll be surprised how much God pursues you throughout the day. The second beautiful thing is that God wants to use YOU to be someone’s angel. Those little tugs on your heart that don’t always make sense…that’s God using YOU to show people HIS love and glory. You fit the requirements because of His love for you. So I challenge you, let the Lord use you to be someone’s angel. Keep your eyes peeled, because I promise He is sending them in your life too, just as a small glimpse into how much He loves and cares for you.
**p.s ministry update is coming to blog followers and supporters in a few days to catch you up on this crazy year!! Thank you for all your patience as I’ve been terrible at sending updates!**
