El Salvador is b-e-a-utiful! My team was fortunate enough to be stationed about a 3-minute walk away from the beach in a little town called El Tunco. How amazing is that?!?! El Tunco is a mega surf town with many shops and loads of papusas (corn tortilla with cheese in the middle) waiting to be eaten!

Our ministry this month is performed through the church we are staying at, La Red. We are doing everything from writing lesson plans and teaching English to visiting orphanages and performing social media for the church. Speaking about the church, here is a picture of the church we are serving (La Red) AND our sweet, little, place we like to call home (for the next 17 days)!

God’s beauty is everywhere and in everything but it is beyond easy to see how beautiful He is in El Tunco.

I am picking up Spanish very quickly and can now clearly and thoroughly say, “I don’t speak Spanish” and “Where is the bathroom”.

We serve for 5 days in our ministry, we have one day of rest and one “adventure day”. This adventure day we did something I’ve always wanted to do…CATCH A GNARLY WAVE DUDE ?? We surfed! I did a little more falling and inhaling water then actually standing up, BUT I did stand up a couple times. I consumed enough sodium in our 3 hour surf lesson to last me until the next country or two.

Fun facts:

(-) We are staying right next to a hostile, which happens to have chickens around it. I don’t know what breed of roosters they have but these chickens are confused about everything life has to offer. These roosters crow all through the night! 1 o’clock—crow! 3 o’clock—crow! 7 o’clock—crow! 9 o’clock—crow!

(-) I am no longer afraid of spiders or actually anything crawly except cockroaches. I am convinced there is a bag of miracle grow these suckers are bathing in so they can be massive. This Northern girl has NEVER seen a cockroach in her life until a week ago. Now I have seen and killed half the population in El Salvador so you’re welcome future World Race teams.

(-) The ants here are stronger than some men I know….and that’s not an insult! Here’s a picture of a herd of ants defying gravity and scaling the side of a building while carrying a large dead bug. I’ve been looking around to see where their stash of protein powder is so I can steal some.
