THE. WORLD. RACE.

Those three words were terrifying to me last summer but through a heart change, those words defined the next steps in my journey. The World Race is an 11-month Christian mission trip to 11 countries around the world. One of the unique things about the World Race is that it’s not only a mission trip but also an intensive discipleship program designed to launch my generation into our specific kingdom calling. Through the World Race, my team and I will…

  • serve in partnership with churches and ministries in local communities to preach the Gospel

  • plant churches

  • work in orphanages

  • minister to women and children trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking

  • bring the restorative hope of the Father’s love to many tribes and nations

So initially when I read about the World Race (before applying) and what it comprised of, I felt fearful. I wasn’t exactly sure why I had fear, as it isn’t a feeling I typically sense but this time was different. It engulfed my being. It initially affected my emotions so heavily that I shut my computer down for the night and went to bed! It was eating at my thoughts throughout the next few days and then rolled over into the next few weeks. I verbally said out loud,

“Rachael, you can’t do this. You’re not strong enough.”

That was the moment God kindly informed me I was wrong and He wanted me on this trip. So here I am! Writing my first blog and following the path God has placed me on.

Here it is…

…the information y’all have been waiting to know! I will be leaving in August to travel with a group of youngsters, like myself, to 11 countries while only living out of a backpack. Now y’all might think it’s a bit crazy and slightly impossible to pack for 334 days in one checked-bag and I

might…

possibly…

slightly…

kinda…

MAJORLY…

agree with you!

Miracle #1 of the trip will occur when I have my tent (we tent in some areas), sleeping mat, 3 pairs of shoes, clothes and gear for sizzlin’ hot as well as very cold weather, amenities (floss is a hot commodity!), electronics, a Bible and a great attitude strapped to my back, hiking my way to our next destination!

The countries my and I will be serving include:

  • Nicaragua
  • Guatemala
  • Honduras
  • El Salvador
  • Ghana
  • Cote D’ivoire
  • India
  • Nepal
  • Malaysia
  • Indonesia

Throughout the trip, I will most likely be vlogging on a weekly basis and posting the links in Facebook! Here are a couple ways to contact me on the trip or to catch up on what I’m doing…

If you do visit my blog, you’ll be able to see my fundraising goals. To be fully funded in August, I need to raise around $18,000.

Joshua 1:9 says, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Fear can take a calling placed on your life and distort it into something negative. I refuse to allow the large monetary number I have to raise to discourage me or distort the calling placed before me. This has been my mindset from the first day and I am praying each day this will be my mindset the entire journey.

If you find yourself wanting to prayerfully support this trip, it would be an immeasurable blessing and if you find yourself wanting to financially support this trip it would be and immense blessing as well. If you would like more information or a support letter, just message me! I would love to talk to everyone about this!

One last thing I will say is that God. Is. Amazing. #11in11 #TheWR

Ps. This is my first blog. EVER.
Pps. I promised myself I would never start a blog. Look at me now?!? #miracle#2
