Hey Everyone!
The way we did parent launch and training camp was a little bit different than the average World Race squads. June 4th and 5th we started at the hotel in Atlanta with parents that were able to come. Mine were able to and it was an amazing experience for us to worship together and pray for each other on our journeys. They left feeling more empowed and with a better understanding that this is a journey for them as well as it is for me. From there on June 5, we left our parents and took vans to Gainesville Georgia where the adventures in missions headquarters is. This is where we had our 10 day training camp. Most racers have the 10 day training camp and then go home and then launch two months later, our squad was different because we launched immediately after our 10 day training camp. I personally liked it better this way as it left you feeling fueled up and ready to go.
Food each day was a different theme there was western European day, Latin America day, African day, Asia day, travel day, adventure day, and welcome back to America day. On the adventure day they fed us rice duck egg (1,000 year old egg) and fried crickets. (I did not eat the crickets but Asia is coming:))
We slept in tents the whole time. For half of time it was fortunately not down pouring and my tent and bags dried up! I was thankful for the rain because it kept me from being too hot. (Again… Asia is still coming.)
We had bucket showers at training camp which was a little challenging but I’ll be a pro eventually.
My squad all met for the first time in Atlanta and have already grown into a bog family inten days. My squad consist of 37 racers and 9 leaders right now. Training camp opened something new in me that I didn’t realize was there. You know when you do a new workout for the first time and you are sore in places you have never been sore in before and still don’t understand how that happened? Well that is the best way that I can explain how training camp has been for me and God barely even started the Journey. The Holy Spirit has awakened some things inside of me and I can’t wait to see what He will do next.
We just arrived at Granada, Nicaragua last night at an adventures in missions base. It is a community center and today they had a soccer tournament on the property and there were lots of kids:). We are finishing up some training this week and then we will see what things we will be dong for next week. Today we got to go into the town of Granda in a taxi, exchange dollars for Codabas (1 dollar is about 33 Codabas)
I want to leave you guys with this statement that I have herd several times this past couple weeks and it could not be truer, LIFE IS MINISTRY AND MINISTRY IS LIFE! So think about all the people you encounter today, your taxi driver, brewista, cashier, those individuals that God put into your path today, THOSE are your ministry for today!
Please respond with any stories you may have about the people you encounter today or this week.
LovE you all! Until next time!
