As you can tell from being on this blog I am preparing to go on the world race in January of 2010. I am ecstatic and so ready for whatever it is God has in store for me. Everything that has happened up to this point in time I know was preparing me to be a part of this adventure, and everything that happens on this great adventure I know will be preparing me for what’s to come.
Recently, I feel like one of the biggest things God has been teaching me is that life was meant to live simply and that when we get rid of all the materialistic things that tend to weigh us down, then we free ourselves up to really experience and enjoy relationships to the fullest, we free our hearts up to realize what’s truly important in life and we can live more abundantly than we ever did before.
The apostle Paul wrote in Phillipians 3:8 ” Yes everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with him.”
This is what I want to experience and share on the world race. I want to live this out with my team members, with the people we are working alongside in partnership and the communities we are building relationships with; I want it to be evident in my life that nothing is more important than having a personal relationship with Christ. I want people to be moved by Christ to truly have an encounter with God. I know not everyone I know and I am sending this to will share my beliefs, but I hope you will come to know me and hopefully Christ a little more with me throughout this process. I can promise you that whatever I am doing I will be doing with all my heart, and that I will be loving on people as much as I can possibly bear.
When I applied to the World Race I knew if I was accepted that God would work it out and provide the finances and I am trusting in him to do that. I would love for you all to partner with me and help me make this incredible journey. How is up to you. Please pray about it, discuss it with your husband or wife, share my needs with your friends. If afterwards you feel lead to support me financially then GREAT! I hope regardless you will support me with your prayers and encouragement, follow my blog and write to me often. It will be pretty much a year away from you all and I will miss you terribly, but I know this is what my next step is… I will be back in Raleigh the first 2 weeks of October and would love to see any and all of you, and be more than happy to grab coffee and tell you what the Lord’s been teaching me and a little more about the World Race. You can support me by clicking the support tab to my left and donating online, but i think there is a small percentage fee. If you would like to avoid that you can send any donations by mail, it will just take a little longer which is fine, or send them to me directly and I can send them all in a bundle. There will be a blog post titled needs for misc things beyond the 14, 300 required for the trip.
