Hey everyone!!!
Happy New Year 2011! I can’t believe it’s here.
I figured at this point I would just be hanging out with friends and family, ready to hop on the plane to start our adventure….. Not so much.. I’m starting to stress out a little and easily get annoyed.. it’s going to be a long 2 days. (prayer prayer prayer..)
Christmas time with all of the family has been amazing. My grandparents came down from Montana, and unfortunately left before new years, we got to spend time with my uncle john and aunt amy, and many cousins, and also see all of mom’s side of the family in sweet home. Amidst all of our fun family time, I have strewn all of my things around the living room and dining room, and hallway, and bedroom with the intention of sorting and packing. But here I am 2 days before leaving, and I have just barely begun.
Yesterday I spent 3 and a half hours trying to pack my backpack. Fortunately I am under the weight limit with all my stuff, and it is all packed, but it’s at 48lbs, and I just don’t want to carry that much this year.. so when I get back to Portland today there will be some more weeding through.. It’s hard to get out of the mindset, or “I might need..” and “what if?” and just trust that I’ll have all that I need, and manage with what i have. I might be uncomfortable, and stinky one day because I didn’t bring that extra shirt, but it’s not life or death..
I still need to go and get my extra passport photos, fill out my living will, and power of attorney, or else just make a video expressing my wishes if anything were to happen at this point, dump my hard drive onto our external hard drive, photo copy my med records and ID’s, buy: permethrin, deet mosquito spray, water bottle, duck tape, and ditty sacks…. I’ll be making a dollar store and REI run on monday before my flight..lol
I cried my eyes out when grandma and grandpa decided to take off early on Thursday, so who knows what I’ll be like this afternoon when I head back to Portland with my mom and sis and say bye to my dad and brothers….
I’ve been looking up facts and info on each of the countries we are going to so little reports to come hopefully soon… I’ve got to go start loading my stuff into a grey tub in the garage… Ready to just have a pack on my back and time to think. World Race here we come:)
