Have I ever mentioned how much I absolutely LOVE sunsets? There’s something about the way the sky is constantly changing colors from blue to yellow to the deepest oranges, reds and pinks, to purple and eventually dark blue to black. The clouds add dimension and layers and the sun is just shining through in the most glorious, overwhelmingly beautiful light you could ever even imagine, before it decides to dip beneath the horizon.

Now what if I told you sunsets against the mountains and volcanoes of Guatemala were even more beautiful than what I just described?

Yeah, that’s right. I’M IN GUATEMALA!!!!

Wednesday, January 13th was a night full of worship in Gainesville, GA for my squad and I, praying with everything we had that God would miraculously allow everyone to receive negative tests to be able to travel to Guatemala within the next day. As test after test came back, we prayed harder and harder until finally, within 7 hours of when we would potentially be leaving, we were told to pack and be ready to leave by 4am the next morning.

So, the afternoon of January 14th, we landed in Guatemala and have been on the beautiful AIM Base ever since!

This past week was our first week of ministry and let me tell you, God is already doing amazing things! My team’s schedule looks slightly different than the other teams on the squad in the fact that our ministry doesn’t start until the afternoon, but I’ve learned that provides an AMAZING amount of time to be able to have quiet, alone time with God in the mornings, preparing my heart and mind for everything He has planned for the day. Ministry is a little different each day, but will often consist of house visits, prayer walks, adult ministry with a local church, teaching young kids english, and sometimes sports ministry, which is typically playing soccer with local kids.

So much has happened this week it feels like I’ve been here already for a month! Along with ministry starting this week, I got baptized on Thursday! God has been teaching me so much and working through me that Him and I talked about it and decided it was time. So, baptism in the Guatemala bathtub, it is! I’m hoping to get a blog out next week including all that led up to my baptism so stay tuned:)

I can’t wait to keep you guys updated on all that’s going on down here! Love you guys!
