I haven’t even left yet and the World Race has already taught me more than I could ever imagine! This process has been quite the adventure, stretching me in ways I’ve never been before. I’ve learned things I never thought I would need to know. But most importantly, I’ve learned that I can do this.
Here is just a glimpse into what my life has looked like over the past 7 months:
1) I’ve attempted to stuff my closet into my backpack
2) I learned that 8 shirts is more than enough for a year
3) Become good friends with one of the cashiers at REI – Hi Ashley!
4) I got a yellow fever vaccination
5) I got a Japanese encephalitis vaccination – imagine that conversation with CVS pharmacy
6) I got a hep A vaccination
7) I got a hep B vaccination
8) I got a typhoid vaccination – CVS now thinks I’m crazy
9) Googled things like “how big are the bugs in Africa” and “is there Whataburger in Honduras”
10) Bought a tent – THANKS FINANCIAL SUPPORTERS!!
11) Learned how to set up said tent – 5 hours later…
12) Bought a video camera to start a vlog (video + blog) – COMING SOON!
13) Learned that washing my clothes in an empty trash can may be acceptable 7 months in…
14) Bought an eye-mask for sleeping because I’m a diva
15) Spent an hour on the phone with my insurance discussing malaria pills
16) Bought super fashionable pink TEVAs – yes I will attempt to be a trendy missionary
17) Planned my first ever camping trip with friends
18) Decided camping is gross and turned it into a “glamping” trip
19) Realized I just committed to a year of camping and I need to stop saying it’s gross
20) Learned that I have the most amazing community ever that has supported me both financially and spiritually!
I’m incredibly grateful for the love and encouragement that I have received. Thanks to you all I am getting closer and closer to furthering God’s Kingdom across the nations! As of right now I only have $3,866 left to fundraise. If you feel called to be a financial supporter, donating is easy!
