As our month in Ghana came to a close, I reflected on how much I had fallen in love with the children that quietly crept into my heart over the last 30 days. It was effortless and surprisingly quicker than I thought possible.
However, I’ve realized the reason it’s so easy to love these children is because of how open and receptive they are to our love. They never turn away from the love we have for them but instead lean into it asking for more and more. Even though they are little, they understand the concept of unconditional love. They know there is no end to love and there is always more to give.
As much as I love these sweet kiddos, I can’t help but think how much more does the Father love His children! If we are only open and receptive to it, He is prepared to deliver a love that is freely, fully and forever. A love without conditions to meet our every need and never runs out.
When we humble ourselves before Him, He allows us the freedom to pass through the gates into heaven.
We must become like the little children of the world so that we may receive the free, full and forever love of our Heavenly Father.
I’m often dumbfounded at the Lord’a abundant love for me. And not just me, but everyone He created in His image. He is our Father and He loves us not just like any father loves, but perfectly.
Many of the kids I have met this month are without fathers. But thankfully the incomplete love of these earthly fathers can’t stand in comparison to the compassion and power of our Heavenly Father, who steps in to love us completely.
He never turns in shame from our sin but instead invites us to sit on His lap as He lavishes us in His perfect love.
“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” Mark 10:14
