I think we can all agree that it’s pretty easy to lose sight of our higher purpose. To get distracted. I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve veered off the path a time or two. This usually comes when I try my hand at writing my own story. Often unknowingly straying from a greater story path to follow one of destruction.

Typically I’m suddenly overwhelmed with some sort of false wisdom telling me I’m able to accomplish everything on my own. You’d think I’d learn my lesson but time and time again I meet a dead end path.

I’m slowly realizing that it never works out when I try to take control of the writing. But with a gentle nudge and a still quiet voice, I’m reminded that someone greater is writing my story and that it’s okay to take the backseat.

But let me also tell you that taking that back seat is terrifying. You don’t know where you’re going and you constantly have the urge to hit the imaginary passenger breaks or ask “are we there yet”. It takes patience. And you know what they say about patience…it’s a virtue that’s nearly impossible to obtain, or something along those lines.

This backseat way of life takes a different kind of courage. This courage is called faith. A faith that the Driver knows exactly where they are driving and that the destination is well worth the patience.

So I can’t say it enough. I’m terrified for this adventure that I’m about to launch on. But that’s just it. It’s an adventure led by the greatest Guide there could ever be.

Today I’m thankful for a Writer who writes the best stories for me. Although right now my story feels a bit like it’s happening to someone else, I’m excited to meet the destination.

Thank you to everyone for your overwhelming love and support. Please be in prayer for my team as we launch this week for an 11 month journey to 11 countries.

Here I go!
