Two questions have challenged me my entire life… Who am I? and What is God’s will for my life? Recently, I have come to the conclusion that God’s will for me in this part of my World Race journey is to securely understand and embrace who I am in Christ. Who I am created to be and who God is molding me to be. Yesterday, I spent several hours searching the Bible for my answer. The following is just a taste of how Jesus met me

Identity in Christ

  • God’s creation. Psalm 139:13 “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.”

  • Galatians 3:26, 29; 4:7 “You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus… If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise… So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir.”

  • 1 Peter 2:9 -10″But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who brought you out of darkness into His wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; Once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.”

  • Ephesians 1:4-5 “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love, he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will.”

  • Philippians 2:20 “But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.”

  • Part of the body of Christ. 1Corinthians 12:18 “But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be….If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.”

  • Uniquely gifted. 1 Peter 4:10 “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.”

  • Colossians 2:13b “God made you alive with Christ.”

  • Romans 6:18 “You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.”

Work in Christ

  • Matthew 9:37-38 “then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

  • Ephesians 6:19b-20a “I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains.”

  • Peacemakers. Colossians 3:15 “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace.”

  • Work-in-Progress. Philippians 1:6 “…he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

Analogies

  • Matthew 5:14 “You are the light of the world… Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

  • John 10:14-15 “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me – just as the Father knows me and I know the father – an d I lay down my life for the sheep.”

  • John 15:5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

  • Matthew 5:13 “You are the salt of the earth.”

  • Matthew 4:19 “‘Come, follow me,’ Jesus said, ‘and I will make you fishers of men.'”

  • Isaiah 64:8 “Yet, O LORD, you are our father. We are the clay, you are the potter, we are all the work of your hand.”
