Last night Mark Morgan, father of Shannon Morgan, went home to be with his Savior and King after a battle with cancer. At last, he is completely healed and resting peacefully in the arms of the great physician. His strength and message of mercy continues its legacy through his daughter.
Tonight, as we rejoiced in the work of the Lord in her father’s life (the faith he demonstrated going to Columbia to speak truth and life into its people despite threats, healing people through the power of the Holy Spirit in prayer, and speaking life and love into his daughter daily even through her depression), Shannon demonstrated the legacy of faith through speaking life and love over our squad even in her mourning. She cried out praises for God giving her 23 years with her daddy and cried out to Jesus to be her everything. With a smile and a powerful voice she spoke candidly with Jesus for the blessing of her daddy, rejoiced in his faith, and praised God for his life and legacy. I teared up at the incredible testimony and demonstration of faith in this daughter of the King. What an awesome testimony of the difference hope in resurrection makes even in the process of mourning and grieving the loss of a loved one! She has hope that she will see her daddy some day in heaven and she holds fast to the knowledge that her daddy is in a place of complete healing and in the presence of God.
Throughout the night, she worshiped Jesus as many of the rest of us broke down in tears thinking of our own loved ones and the precious time we’ve spent with you. She embraced us and reminded me of the temporal nature of time, encouraged us to seize every opportunity to believe with faith and to go deeper with Jesus. When I entered, I expected to “mourn with those who mourn” but instead I found myself “rejoicing with those who mourn” and worshiping our heavenly father with my World Race family. Together we worshiped with complete abandon:
“Blessed be your name
When I’m found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed be your name…
You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Blessed be your name.”
Please keep
Shannon Morgan and her family in your prayers as they rejoice in the life and love of Mark Morgan and our heavenly father. Shannon has returned home to spend some time with her family and will be rejoining the World Race in Romania.
