Imagine sitting in a completely dark room with no noise going on. As you sit there, you finally get to the point where you have cleared your mind and the only thing you want is to hear Jesus speak to you. Instantly, you see Jesus in a vision and He is simply telling you He loves you. He repeats this over and over and then embraces you.
This was my experience the other night.
The fact that God told me He loved me kind of had me confused, because I thought I already knew that. So I was wondering why He would tell me once again? As I sat and wondered what He meant by that, I began to ask Him if He would explain exactly why He would tell me what I already knew. He put 1 John 3:1 on my heart. It says, “See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.”
Our acceptance from God is not based on our successes. It is not based on how many people we can lead to Him. It is not based on how many hopeless people we can bring Hope to. God simply wants us to know how much He truly loves us.
You can have an experience a lot like this. All you have to do is just be silent and listen. Begin by reading scripture, and asking God to speak to you through the scripture. Then ask God to protect you from wrong speakings. Ask God to speak to you in a way that you can understand, and to confirm whatever He says to you in scripture. Also, JOURNAL! Write down questions and then just pause and be silent. Cut off all distractions around you, clear your mind and just focus on Jesus. He may speak to you audibly, He may direct you to another scripture, He may give you a vision, He may even embrace you. Whatever you may feel, or hear, write it down.
Do not worry, you are not going to bother Him. I PROMISE He wants to speak to you. It is just up to you to listen intently. Be intentional with your time with Him. Your prayer time does not always have to be a one way conversation. Make sure you are listening to what God wants to tell you!
In Love,
Preston
