This month we are doing a two-team ministry at Guatchupita. Team S.O.A.R. and Team City Lights are coming together to do a lot of work with the children of Guatchupita, digging a canal to drain the disease-carrying water out of the city, and visiting with families in town.

One of the guys from the other team, http://robbysmith.theworldrace.org/?filename=the-adventures-of-illness-in-a-foreign-country, were walkin our 30 minute walk to Guatchupita and we were talkin about how basically we have this super interdigitated group right now and started, not seriously, brain stormin on how to put our names together. SOAR City Light, City SOAR Light, Light SOAR City, City Light SOAR, and then……..

 So Light Our City
(S.O. Light A.R. City)

If you don’t know, SOAR is an acronym for Serve, Obey, Awaken, Restore. This month is going to be nothing BUT Serving and Obeying the Light/Awakening and Restoring the City! Just writing that gives me chills down my spine and the biggest smirk on my face because my God is pretty clever. Uh oh, double meaning! It’s an invitation for the One who created these people and this place:
light this city on FiYuh! (fire)

1 John 1:5 “This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.”

Ephesians 5:14 “Therefore He says: ‘Awake, you who sleep,  arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light.'”

Psalm 97:3.4 “A fire goes before Him, and burns up His enemies round about. His lightnings light the world; the earth sees and trembles.”

God, why do you have faith in us to do Your work?! We are not worthy of anything, even life. You sent Your Son to die, to take our sin, to bring us to You. I can’t wrap my mind around Your love. Nonetheless, we’re here and Yours. Take us as we are. Take us where You have planned. Take us through what You have planned.

Take everything we put before you. We drop all our desires, fears, failures,
plans, pride at Your feet.

We could spend years here and with out You nothing that lasts will come from this.

John 15:5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.”

1 Corinthians 3:7 “So then neither he who plants is ANYTHING, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase.”

Stay tuned.
