Rivers, Mountains,
and Ministry…

I am in Nepal!!!

Hello cyber world,

 The last time we
talked I was still in India!
We have been in Nepal
for 1 week now, all the teams are set up at their ministry sites; I am so
excited to share our location.

Our ministry location is breath taking, we are right next to
a beautiful, crystal blue river with a bridge that crosses to the other side.
We are surrounded by what the Nepalese call hills (But to me they are
mountains) I am simply taken away by the beauty that surrounds me. I love going
down to the river and watching the fast currents rush by, usually I will
journal or just sit and listen to God’s beauty. My team and I are about 4 hours
away from Kathmandu.

The Nepalese people are beautiful; stubborn, but beautiful.
The 7th was our first day of ministry; pastor took us to another
village about 4 kilometers away from our home base. We walked for about 30
minutes one way. Ministry this month definitely looks different from last month
in India.
The people here are not as open or welcoming to hear the gospel as they were in
India.
When we are able to talk though, they listen and then usually politely tell you
“we need to follow the traditions that our ancestors followed and then we say
thank you and move forward. We have met some who are interested to learn more!
All I know is that God is planting little seeds for those who will come after
us.

I won’t share his real name but, John told us that Nepal’s forefathers made covenant with demons
and Nepal
is under generations of curses. I was shocked to find out that they still
practice human sacrifice here. Every two years some of the villages offer a
child to their God’s. I honestly weep for the Nepalese people. Human
trafficking has devastated Nepal.
John talked to us about the women and children from ages 8-24 that are
trafficked from Nepal into Mumbai, India.
He shared a few stories with us and I wept as I heard just a few. Nepal is in bondage by satan and it is going to
take my generation to rise up and take a stand to even begin bringing freedom
to Nepal.

So far our time here has been amazing, and exhausting at the
same time. Today 2/10/11, we hiked up a “hill and it was awesome/crazy! I
enjoyed it so much. We talked to many houses up in the “hills and shared God’s
love with them. I love hiking so this month’s ministry is right up my alley. It
has been a little hard though due to sickness. I was struggling with a cold
when we first arrived; now it is headaches and body aches. Please pray for a
quick recovery.

It is time to eat now so I am going to go. I will write
another blog asap.

By the way, I have till the end of the month to go from
$6,400 to $10,000 or I might be ending my race. For any racer this is a very
daunting place to be. I
am scared, but at the same time I know how awesome God is and how awesome you
are….yes you, the one reading this right now. 🙂 So if you feel led, please make a financial
donation!!! I will kiss an orphan for you.

This is just
a reminder of where your money is going:

2% for Training Camp
4% for Field Support (our squad leaders, coaches,
and debrief stuff)

12% goes to the World Race development program
17% Goes to all the Administration fees that we
require (all our travel, logistics, lodging…crazy to figure this out for 45
people at a time!)

and

65% goes directly to the Racer, to meet their
immediate needs

Here’s that breakdown:
$4,235 for our intercontinental travel for the year
$460 per month, broken down as:
$3.75/day for food
$5.25/day for lodging
$3.00/day for transport
$3.33/day for long distance travel (buses, trains)
and miscellaneous stuff like translators, toilet paper, and the like.

Much love,

Philip
