Not only dream…But
He wants us to dream BIG!

I recently read a
blog Seth Barnes posted titled “when dreams come true” the blog was a victory
report about the orphans in Haiti who have been saved from human trafficking.
There is a section of his blog that really got me thinking about my trust in God.

Section from Seth’s
blog:

We live in a cynical age, an age of
frustration and declining expectations. We voted for hope and change and got
the Great Recession. We are a disappointed generation and have serious
questions about dreams.

But those of us who believe in an
all-powerful God who not only makes dreams, but makes them to come true must be
counter-cultural.  Ezekiel frames the response we’re to have to a season
of broken dreams:

“What is this proverb you have: ‘The
days go by and every vision comes to nothing’?
Say to them: ‘I am going to put an end to
this proverb and they will no longer quote it in Israel.’
Say to them: ‘The days are near when every
vision will be fulfilled.'”  (Ezekiel
12:22-25)

The report from Haiti is a dream come
true. God wants to delight us by fulfilling the visions and dreams that we’ve
given up on. What dreams do you have that seem impossible? Could it be that God
wants to make your dream happen and just needs you to believe in it as he does?

“God wants to delight us by
fulfilling the visions and dreams that we’ve given up on”

I sometimes
question whether I have the guts to “dream” and believe that God will fulfill my
hearts desires. Then the questions come:

Why do I think this
way?
Do I really trust
God?
Does God really
fulfill our dreams?
Why is my faith so
small?

God has given me a
dream-A BIG dream! I want to make a documentary about South America based off
of a six month backpacking trip. Highlighting different ministry’s where God is
moving and capturing the stories of lives that have been changed through
Christ. If I am to be completely honest-I was scared to even mention my dream
to you. I heard lies that said “don’t
share that dream, it’s too big and people will laugh at you when you don’t see
it through.”
And I almost didn’t share.

The sad truth is
that I have grown up in a generation that plays it safe. Don’t dream to big!
Don’t let your imagination wander to far! If you dream to big you will only get
hurt when it doesn’t happen! These are all lies from a very present enemy. The
devil in many ways has stripped us of our dreams and replaced them with doubt.

Do I really trust
God? Yes. After a year of seeing the dreams of others around the world come
true because of their faith in God-how could I not believe? I look at people
like Rolland and Heidi Baker who started in Mozambique with nothing but their
hopes and dreams; and look at what God has accomplished through them. I had the
privilege of working with Iris ministries in Mozambique and I can tell you that
because of their faith and willingness to dream BIG! God honored them and
blessed them with the strength and ability to carry the task that was given to
them.
I sometimes doubt
that my dreams can come true. I also recognize that this way of thinking is a
common way for the enemy to discourage us. If we can start to recognize the enemy’s
lies from the Lords truth– then we will be set free. Freedom from the bondage
the devil has over our dreams.

Dream BIG and
believe in your dreams as much as the Lord does, He will see them through. I can’t wait to see where he takes me with my dream!
