Have you wondered where the donations you give me go?
Let me give you a little more detail on where your money is going:
2% for Training Camp
4% for Field Support (our squad leaders, coaches, and debrief stuff)
12% goes to the World Race development program
17% Goes to all the Administration fees that we require (all our travel, logistics, lodging…crazy to figure this out for 45 people at a time!)
and 65% goes directly to the Racer, to meet their immediate needs

Here’s that breakdown:
$4,235 for our intercontinental travel for the year
$460 per month, broken down as:
$3.75/day for food
$5.25/day for lodging
$3.00/day for transport
$3.33/day for long distance travel (buses, trains) and miscellaneous stuff like translators, toilet paper, and the like.

If you really take a good look at my funds you would realize that I don’t get a lot of money! I am not going on a luxurious trip and doing a little bit of ministry. On the contrary I am giving up a year of my life to live in ministry every day for 11 months. I live out of a tent, I eat what is prepared for me in the village where we stay, and we minister 24 hours of everyday. No, what I am doing is denying myself the luxury of the “American Dream” and in return selling all my possessions and following Christ. My life right now is that of the rich young ruler, you remember that story from the bible?_______________________________________________________________
Luke 18:18-23
[18] A certain ruler asked him, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?“
[19] “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good — except God alone.
[20] You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.'”
[21] “All these I have kept since I was a boy,” he said.
[22] When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
[23] When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was a man of great wealth.

I have made my choice to give up everything for one year; for 2011. I have decided to live with the least of these. To hold the dieing orphan in Africa, to bring hope to the prostitute in Asia, to rescue the child sold into sex slave trade, and bring hope to those who don’t know the word.
And here is the part that is my least favorite. It makes me feel like I am begging. Maybe it is when I look into peoples eyes and see that what I am asking is of bother to them; which makes me feel bad sometimes. But you have read the charts, you see that I am not asking for you to help me fund a year of luxury; all I am asking is that you help fund them. Help fund the starving, the dieing, the hopeless, the loveless, the sick, and the poor, the orphans, the sex slaves, the work slaves, the addicted, the forced, the beaten/abused, the angry, the sad, the suicidal, and most importantly those who don’t know of Christ and how he died to set them free.
Will you partner in ministry with me today? Will you listen to your heart and say ok, maybe I could give up the $35 or the $70 I would spend at starbucks in a week or two time. I could give up the money I would spend at the movies, or the restaurants I eat at for just one week.
