Jesus is good because he is absurdly in love with us. Today I talked with a man who is like a father to me and the topic of the conversation was how the Lord does all things so that we may fall deeper in reliance and need of him.
God is ridiculous. He does not need you and he does not need me. If we are to give up everything and follow him then it is only right if he says it is right. I am tempted to say forget medical school, give away everything I own, and go preach the healing and deliverance of the Holy Spirit; however, God does not need me to do this if he does not will it.
If he wants me to go to medical school then it is only so that I may know him more. If he wants me to give up everything it is only so I may develop a reliance on him. He does not need me, he wants me.
So here goes my rant…
Jesus is so good because he would take a young man who had both of his parents die and give him life to the fullest.
Jesus is so good because he loves us enough to give up everything.
Jesus is so good because he allows us to go through the process of support raising so that we may have more reliance on him.
Jesus is so good because he allows people in our lives to die and be hurt so that we may come broken and needy before him and find rest.
Jesus is so good because he is my home. He is my life. He is my everything.
He is joy and peace and hope.
In him I find rest for my soul.
In him I am set free from the pain of this life.
In him I am challenged and stretched and broken down only so that his presence may fill me with more of him.
I pray that I would receive more of you Father.
Break me Lord. Bring me to my knees in reverence before you.
Allow me to look like a fool for you.
I pray my name would be cursed on account of you because I am so wholly sold out to you.
I pray that my body may be broken only to feel your healing power.
I pray that I would know you more. With everything I am I want to know you more Lord.
God rescue me from the chains of this life so that I may be closer to you. Stretch me this year Lord.
Let my heart be poured out before you God. Let me be nothing so that you may be everything.
……
Those of you reading this, please, I urge you love him more. Love him more if it’s all you have left.
Stop holding onto control of your life and let him come in. Desire to be broken before him. Desire that your sins may come to light so that he may receive greater glory by your sanctification. Desire that you would be spat on and rejected for his name sake. Desire that you would see the hand of God. That you would see his face. That you could just feel his touch for an instant.
Better is one day in your courts Lord than thousands elsewhere.
I would trade my entire life for an instant in his presence.
So please, please, please simply love him. Simply love him with all that you are.
Jesus is sweeter than anything you or I can or will ever experience.
Jesus is so good
