Howdy folks!

It seems like forever since I last wrote on here! A lot has been going on lately……finishing my shots for the Race, continuous fundraising, and oh yeah-getting baptized! J I had a great time getting baptized at the River Valley Church picnic. My whole family was there and even my squad-mate Addie was there too! Addie felt the urge to come pray over me as I was waiting in line to get baptized. It was such a BEAUTIFUL prayer. She may claim to have made my cry during the prayer, but I say it was just really really windy outside. I had my mom record the baptism-take a look!

I finally finished getting all of my travel vaccines this past week. I feel pretty good after all those pricks in the arm. The only one I felt a little sick from was the Yellow Fever vaccine which contained a live virus.

I hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend! I got to spend a couple of days north of Grand Rapids at my friend Eric Richey’s cabin. Ya’ll, this place was absolutely beautiful! It’s nestled deep into the forest and is placed gracefully on a private lake. The water is clean and the Loons were calling day in and day out. Even though there was a cabin on the property, I decided to rough it in my tent. I wanted to give it one last run before I take it out of the country. It did get a little chilly both nights, but I managed to make it through! The first night as I was walking back to my tent, I felt like it was very appropriate to go say my nightly prayer on the dock underneath all the stars. Yo, the sky was so clear I could see the stars just perfectly. Sorry to all my Texas readers and Squad-mates, but that night, the stars were bigger and brighter in Northern Minnesota than deep in the heart of Texas. It felt so great to just spend some alone time with Father God! I couldn’t help but think back to when a fellow squad-mate was telling someone during the ATL day that God thinks about them more times than there are stars in the sky. Whoa! I never really took that statement seriously until I actually got a chance to look up at the sky. That’s A LOT of stars! It feels so good to be LOVED and to know that even though I may have fallen many times, God still thinks about me more times then there are stars in the sky. As I was finishing up with my prayer I looked up and saw a shooting STAR!! I totally took this as a confirmation that God was listening to my prayer…not that He doesn’t, but it’s sometimes nice to get a sign or confirmation! I slept peacefully that night alone in my tent amidst the recent bear sightings and rustling in the woods J.

Sunday morning I got up at about 6:30am and opened my tent up and saw one of the coolest sights I’ve ever seen! The fog was slowly rolling across the lake and it looked like a scene from one of those scenic computer backgrounds that you see!

Since I wasn’t going to make it to church that morning, I decided to do worship on the dock! I proceeded to do iPod worship to

1.      Arms Open Wide- Hillsong United

2.     God of This City- Chris Tomlin

3.     How Great Is Our God- Chris Tomlin

4.     Hosanna-Hillsong United

5.     The Stand- Hillsong United

I read from the book of John and then finished with Morning Prayer. I was literally in the “zone” the whole time, so I didn’t even notice my Uncle Jason walking up to me on the same dock I was on! He noticed I was praying so he went back to the cabin. I finished shortly after and walked back to the cabin to see what everyone else was up to. Jason and Tanya were sitting on the porch and they said they could hear my singing from the other dock. (Backstory: The Richey’s have two cabins on the property and I was camping near the other cabin which is about 160 yards apart from eachother). I never really took in account that it’s a private lake and we were the only ones on the lake so any sound projected can be heard from quite a distance. I thought it was actually kinda cool that they heard me. J

In other news….

I have been adopted by a social studies class in Austin, MN! Random, I know, but Ms. Mary Lowe was up at the cabin with us and she came up with the idea to set up a map in her classroom so that her class could follow me around the world. She is calling it “Where in the world is Kokomo?” Couldn’t have named it better myself! The students will have an opportunity to ask me questions about the different countries and their cultural means. If times work out, we’ll even video Skype!  I’m pretty excited to share my experiences with the students! Hopefully I can encourage them to get out and see the world as well!

My awesome teammate Ginger Larson made this awesome highlight video of Training Camp! Feel free to check out the fun that was had at camp!

The community of Glencoe lost a very honorable member of the community yesterday. Please pray for The Hoese family as they cope with the loss of Mr. Terry Hoese. Mr. Hoese suffered a stroke recently and has now left us to be with our Father. So please pray for God’s graceful hand over them as they walk the path of recovery and remembrance. Thank you for keeping Sharon, Tammy, Chad, & Jon in your prayers!

I have a set departure date of Sept. 30th to L.A. to spend time with teammates and then off to Guatemala on October 2nd. I am still in need of support funds in order to leave. So if you feel that God has graciously placed it in your heart to partner with me in this ministry, please click on the following link to donate online! And as always, THANK YOU to all of those who have supported me already!! Love ya’ll!!
