So every Wednesday morning I set my alarms an hour early and get to school at the crack of dawn for a class called Christian Outreach. On the way to this class every week I always try to center my focus on God and try to prepare myself, within the hectic early morning, to give and receive God through my classmates by listening to worship music on the way from my house to school.
One of my very favorite christian songs that I like to listen to during this time is the song Difference Maker by NEEDTOBREATHE. This song. Guys. So freaking good. Every time I listen to it I’m automatically inspired (as is the reason I am writing this blog post through this songs great inspiration). This song, as music usually does, reminds me of the joyful sunlight, people radiating Jesus everywhere you looked, and the beautiful nature of the Pinecove Shores. Pine Cove is a Christian summer camp that I have been attending alongside some of the best of friends ever since fourth grade. This camp I can confidently say has shaped my faith, who I am as a person, and has given me a clear and beautiful image of the woman of God I am striving to become (through the amazing counselors). I remember this past year at Pine Cove, my counselor waking us up every morning to this song, Difference Maker, and thinking how can “I” be a difference maker today. At this time I was still on the fence about the whole World Race idea but this song made it clear for me that the World Race is exactly what I need to do.
There is one quote in this song that I really love, it says:
He walks on up the hill to the rock on which he stands
He looks back at the crowd
He looks down at his hands and he says
I am a difference maker
Just to throw some of my 12 years of Catholic school theology at you, a hill or mountains is a place where God reveals himself. Next year, I am going to be physically on these mountains bringing people to Jesus, and allowing him to live in and through me. It is just so crazy to me that I’m going to be given the opportunity to physically be peoples difference makers from this hill that I will be placed on, allowing God to be present through me. Man oh man, that’s just so exciting to me. So if you haven’t listened to Difference Maker by NEEDTOBREATHE I very much so recommend it, it’s truly an inspirational classic. ALSO! I am about 10% funded for this trip. I CAN’T DO IT WITHOUT ALL OF YALLS SUPPORT! Truly anything you can give is perfect!
