Remember the old cartoon The Care Bears? Or Transformers? Or
the movie The Avengers? Each bear had a different color power – blue, green,
yellow, … when combined it was rainbow color and super powerful. In
Transformers there were Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Jazz, …. In Avengers there
were Iron Man, Hawkeye, The Hulk, Captain America, …. Each character was
powerful in their own way, but they oftentimes had to work together to overcome
the biggest evil. They couldn’t do it on their own.
One thing that I learned and saw during the Tanzanian
outreach was how powerful God’s Kingdom
truly can be when we all walk in our calling. Ya, it sounds so cliché and
we’ve probably heard it a gazillion times, but it really is!
During the 1st day of the 4-day crusade, Peter
started it off with a message on the Father’s love. Peter loves power
evangelism and teaching, and as soon as he gets on stage, the crowd is hyped
up. That night, there was a daughter of a witchdoctor who came. Chris, who has
the gift of seer, can see what is going on in the spiritual realm. He can tell
if somebody has demons on them. He can see when the angels are ministering to
people. Doug, on the other hand, has been given a lot of authority. He just
carries it. So that night as they were ministering to the woman, Chris told
Doug what he saw and Doug then addresses the problem. The rest of us were down
at the crusade praying and releasing healing over the multitudes that came.
In Romans 12:3-8, there are 7 redemptive gifts given by the
Father – prophet, servant, teacher, exhorter, giver, ruler, and mercy. Each of
us is dominant in (a) different gifting(s) – some are servants, some are
rulers, some are prophets, but we are to work towards the image of Christ which
is ALL the gifts. I realized that finding out who/how God made you to be is so
important because it helps you to understand that you are ‘not weird’ and what
God has gifted you with so you can step into your destiny even more. It helps
you to see your strengths and weaknesses and how to partner with others because
the truth is, we all need each other.
The daughter of the witchdoctor accepted Christ and was
completely delivered the next night and she looked completely different. Truly
the darkness has no stand against the light of Christ at all! This whole
experience has just given me an even greater desire to discover the person that
God has called me to be and for others to understand that too because dude, we
are such a power house!!! Come Lord and show us!
Rom 12: 4-8
Just as our bodies
have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s
body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.
In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing
certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out
with as much faith as God has given you If your gift is serving others, serve them
well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be
encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership
ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing
kindness to others, do it gladly.
