Guess what? I’ll be in Malaysia on Sunday.
No. I’m not joking. It came as a surprise for me too.
So after the 10-day bush outreach in Mozambique I was
supposed to head on back to Chicago to spend Christmas with my family. But when
I arrived at Atlanta, I was held by customs and they wouldn’t let me into the
US because I didn’t have a return ticket and some other reasons. After much
questioning, they said that I have to leave the country so they put me on a
plane back to Malaysia.
Now I know it ‘sounds’ horrible but it really is not. I
really feel like this is God ordained. Here’s why.
Near the end of the school, whenever people ask me what I
was doing next, all I could tell them was that I was going to Chicago to spend
Christmas with my family and then I don’t know. Although I knew that at some
point in the future I’ll be travelling to Asia, I didn’t know when or how that
was going to happen.
Many of the guest speakers that spoke at the school came
from the Catch The Fire movement, where revival broke out a few years back in
Canada and is now spreading in Europe and US. Somehow an unsettledness came about
in me and I was asking God “Why isn’t
revival happening in Asia as well?” It just seemed so ‘unfair’. I asked one
of the guest speakers about this and he said that revival IS happening in Asia.
“Well, if revival is happening, you have
to show me God.”
The next day God reminded me of a vision He had given me
last year. The picture that God showed me was a map of Asia, mainly SE Asia,
from Laos in the North all the way South to Indonesia. There were little fires
at strategic places on the map and they represented 24/7 houses of prayer. More
and more little beams of fire appeared on the map, and as they got closer to
each other they joined and became this big bonfire. Then I saw white roman
pillars again placed at strategic places on the map. And they represented
people who had a good foundation in Christ. People who truly knew who they are
in Christ, who had their identity firmly rooted in Christ.
My passion is to see people come to know their true identity
in Christ – to really know that they are sons and daughters of the Most High
King, and living out of the abundance of that. Over the next 2 days, God told
me to go find out where revival is happening in Asia, the ‘hotspot’s if you
will, because once these young people are ‘awakened’ into their true identity in
Christ they need to be plugged in somewhere, you can’t just leave them. And the
place to link them to would be the revival hotspots.
I cried out to God and said how am I supposed to get to those spots?! People don’t know who I am so why would people want me there at all?
But God said to find out those contacts and contact them anyways because He
will give me favor.
So here I am on a plane back to Malaysia. God knew exactly
when I was supposed to go back and He orchestrated it. I didn’t pay for my plane
tickets at all and I had a very good sleep at the airport in the ‘detention
room’. Surprisingly I met many people who had to go home too, at least 5 others
during my time in the holding room. Some of them were very angry and upset and
felt like they were treated as criminals. But I just had such a peace of God. I
knew that I had God’s favor and everyone treated me very nicely and even helped
me with getting a free ticket home. I didn’t feel ashamed in any way because I
knew no matter what others may call me or think about me, my identity is rooted
in Christ.
So who knows what awaits here in Malaysia? Or Asia for that
matter. All I know is that I have a God who is trustworthy and I trust Him
completely.
The LORD is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in
all he does.
