hello from Uganda!!!
Uganda is a beautiful country. We've been staying with our contact and his wife and baby daughter. There is no power or running water at the house but I'm blessed to have a bed all to myself this month. It's nice! For ministry, we've been helping build the church, holding crusades, and hanging out with the kids and youth.
One thing that God's been showing me is that we complain about our lives a lot and say that our lives are hard and complicated. But at the rehab school where we have helpee, they have a hard life. They are looked at as outcasts. They are barred up, confined by their handicaps in a country that doesn't respect them. Here in Uganda, there is little of the technology and medicine that is available in the west. Here, they survive as best they can.
God's been showing me that no matter who they are or how they act, they still have the love of God. That, despite their physical handicaps, the love of God should still pour out of us onto them. They have so much more joy than we have! Some can't hear, some can't speak, some can't walk… and yet they have greater joy than us. So next time, instead of complaining about what we don't have, how about we try thanking God for everything we DO have?
