This morning we went
on a treasure hunt. Not your typical treasure hunt where “x marks the
spot.” But a scavenger hunt for things God wanted us to see.
Before we left to go
out to the community to evangelize and pray for people, we all asked God for a
word or a picture of things or people he wanted us to see. He even spoke to
Dura in dreams last night. And so, here is our list of treasures to find.

Red/Red shirt
Her
name is Christine. She looked about my age, in her young 20’s and she was
wearing a red sweater and a black skirt and she was standing outside doing
laundry. We went up to her. Introduced ourselves and asked if we could pray for
her. And we told her of how we had prayed for God to reveal to us something or
someone, and she was the person we were supposed to talk to today. It took her
a while to open up to us, but she finally did and we prayed for her and her
baby. And nearby where Christine was standing, there was a well like thing
where people draw out water. Water thing/pipe. Check.
Purple flowers
I
actually saw purple flowers twice today. The first time was the first house we
stepped into. The flowers were on the tile on the floor.
The
second time was on a blanket by a woman we prayed for who had a boil on her stomach. We had met
this old lady before. We prayed for her the first week we did ministry when she
had malaria but she was so weak and dazed that someone had to tell her that
mazungus (that’s what they call white people) had come to pray for her. She was
really excited that we were back to pray healing for her again.
A crippled man
Actually,
the crippled man was a crippled woman. We were led to her by another woman,
Elizabeth, whom we just met on the street and prayed for her because she said
she had some mental issues. And after we prayed for Elizabeth she just followed
us as we walked around the community. And she really wanted us to go to her
house. That is where we met her sister, Beatrice, who is 66 years old and had
problems in her hip and it hurt her to walk. And so we had her sit on the floor
with her legs stretched out in front of her and we prayed. We even had two
young men that were neighbours to this lady pray with us (and they’ve never
witnessed a miracle before!)
When
we finished praying, Beatrice gets up, without any of our help and stretches.
And before we knew it she was jumping! A 66 year old woman jumping! We say,
“Let’s go outside and do some walking,” and she basically runs out
the door. A miracle has happened today, right in front of my eyes!
We didn’t see
everything on our list, but I know that God speaks to us and I have no doubt
that if we had more time, we could’ve seen those things. I believe that even in
our everyday life God has put in front of us divine appointments along our
path, we just need to ask Him what they are and go on a treasure hunt.
