Just a few days ago, we packed our life up & said our sweet goodbyes to Jaco! As we crossed the peninsula, we were welcomed to Iglesia Monte de Sión del Evangelio Cuadrangular by pastor Basilio & Isamar Medina along with many other brothers & sisters in the church. We are only 4 days in & this has been my favorite experience by far. Not only did being welcomed with amazing home cooked meals exceed expectations but we got to go to the park (plaza) to play a huge game of volleyball and came back home to the church to eat dinner and end our night with a huge dance party that included the kids, pastors & people in the community. Joy is evident in everyone’s faces here. I’m grateful to be living in a space where nobody actually knows english because it definitely pushes me to speak & learn more spanish! Everyone here communicates with us as if we are family & it brings a feeling of comfort and placement. God brought us here to yes, paint the roof of the church and builds walls on the property but He also brought us here for the people. It’s amazing to hear how appreciated we are at this place when we came here to serve them. It’s a two way road that has a perfect balance. My favorite things so far are going to the park in the evenings and playing a huge game of soccer or volleyball and being in the kitchen with all the wonderful cooks who volunteer their time to prepare 3 meals per day for us. Our hosts, the pastors, are so amazing they even had a translator here for church this morning so that we could understand the message Basilio preached about young people being an example to the world no matter their age as described in 1 Timothy 4:12.

I love this community so much & each hand who continues to touch the church & do all they can to host us comfortably. I will forever cherish the moments we spend running up & down the field with no care in the world, the sound of everyone’s voices lifting up the Lord in spanish & Isamar’s bright smile everywhere we go. I love it here, thanks God.

Love always,

<3 P
