I can’t believe this day is finally here. When we got accepted for the World Race back in February we had 7 months to prepare for what we knew would change our lives forever. Well, those 7 months could not have possibly gone by any faster!
Saying goodbye to our friends and family was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. I had knots in my stomach all week and my heart was heavy, but we loved visiting our hometown and spending time with those we cherish the very most. One of my aunts reminded me of an important scriptural truth: “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.” (Matthew 6:34)
Leaving everything behind for 11 months is certainly scary, but I’m so grateful that we have this opportunity and I’m determined to make the absolute most of it. I’ve been a bundle of emotions lately but God has given me a wonderful peace and reassurance that has brought comfort to my soul. Yesterday at church we sang the lyrics “take my life and let it be all for you and for your glory” – how perfect! I want these words to be the anthem of my year. No matter what challenges or celebrations cross my path, I will seek to give God the glory. I will strive to become the person that he desires for me to be and learn how to show love like Jesus did. I will speak truth and try to maintain a positive attitude. I will worship more than I ever have before and offer thanksgiving each day. I will attempt to be self-less in order to put others first and I will search to understand God’s amazing grace.
We’re currently on our way to California to spend a few days with Paul’s Uncle and family before we leave for Guatemala on Thursday (October 6th) night. We are excited to begin our first month of ministry and pray that God will use us to show love and teach truth.
Thank you for keeping us in your prayers, for your financial contributions and for your overwhelming love; we feel so blessed to have your love and support.
To our families… we love you from the bottom of our hearts and will miss you more than anything this year. We are grateful for your support and all of your hard work to help make this possible. Never forget how much you mean to us no matter how far away we may be.
To our very best friends… you guys are amazing! Even when you don’t understand, you still encourage and support. Stay in touch this year because we need you guys J and 11 months isn’t really that long is it?
To our supporters… thank you times a million! We are blown away by your generosity and can’t wait to share our stories with you. You’re going to help change lives!
