Well so here is the first edition of the Nelson News. This will be my way of bringing all of you back home with me around the world. unfortunately i didn’t come up with this two and a half months ago. So i guess you can tag along starting in China. I hope you can enjoy it, because I’m going to have fun writing it.

Yesterday in the town of smallville(the names of people and places have been changed to protect the innocent)everything was business as usual, except for the 5 people who looked like they were from out of town. They woke up like they had done the past couple of days, cold and somewhat unrested, but with expectation of another rock star experience when they went to the school. The students treat them like they are something special. Little do they know that they are special, not because they can sing really well or throw a football 60 yards, although it is rumored that paul can throw a football nearly that far, but because they carry with them a message that can change lives. This message is basic and for everyone. “For God so loved the WORLD he gave his one and only SON, that WHO SO EVER should believe in HIM will have ETERNAL life”. John 3:16 While the community of smallville is a very muslim town, these 5 gringos are here to pray for them and to share with them the good news they carry.
At times they get to see some pretty odd things, like Chinese people playing basketball, which at times looks like a junior high baskteball game, rather then the teachers of the local school playing for fun. (man can they hack)

Early in the day the Americans had the privelage of going and having a guided tour of one of the largest mosques in China. They were all amazed by the massive structure, but what amazed Paul the most was that this massive building while on the outside and inside is very beautiful, is a structure for the enemy, a temple where people, good people who are loved by God, go and worship their made up God, it was a reminder of how lost these people really are. Satan is very clever when it comes to tricking people into worshiping false gods. Please be in prayer for them as they need it, and pray that others will be sent to share with them the Truth, and the Life that is offerred in Jesus.
One of the individuals the American foriegners have had a chance to share the gospel with and God’s love is a man named Jet Li, (remember, changing the names)
Mr Li is a father of two children an 11 year old girl who goes to a boarding school, and a very happy young son probably 4. His wife, Mrs Li is a very happy woman but does not speak english so the Americans have had limited conversations with her. The love and warmth of this family was very evident when they invited the hungry Americans to their home for supper the first day they met. Mr Li along with being a great dad and father is an english teacher at the local school. Paul was able to share with him and another english teacher the gospel, hopefully now that the seed is planted Mr. Li will start asking questions about his own faith. He is not muslim he is what he called, High Nationality, he prays and worships his ancestors. Pray that either the 5 gringos or the full time missionaries will beable to continue to witness to him as he needs Jesus as his savior very much.
All in all the 5 Americans have had a great time in China, having opportunities to get out of their comfort zones by what they eat, by how they communicate, and by how they have been to one of the most remote places in China. In all their struggles and adventures, they count it nothing in comparison to knowing their savior and having the privelage of serving Him. This has truly been one of the highlights of my life, I pray that all of you reading this will take advantage of the privelage of knowing Jesus as your savior and sharing that love with someone else.
