Hey everybody, i want to apologize for not blogging in a while, sorry seth. well our last week here has been very interesting. The first interesting thing that happened this week was when we went to see niddia and she was clearly upset with me and elliott. the problem was, at least what i think was the problem, someone talked to her after she had recieved Christ, and confused her. They told her that we had been lying to her, using a different Bible and just all kinds of stuff, her first question was do you believe in the virgin mary. and we told her that while we think mary was a great woman, an amazing woman, someone to obviously be respected, as she was chosen by God to bring into the world our savior. however we do not worship her, we worship Jesus, not the virgin mary. she at first did not like this, but we were able to convince her that we were not lying to her and her Bible said exactly what we were saying.
Elliott and I were discouraged to say the least, but we went back and just prayed for her, that God would allow her to be released from her old religious ties and to fully except everything He has given her. well fast forward to yesterday, after we took her out to mcdonalds and had a great time in the park slash fountain area outside mcdonalds, we went and wanted to read to her some more from the Bible, so we got a Catholic Bible and read to her from that, trying to prove to her that our Bible and hers is the same. elliott read to her from psalm 2, and talked about asking God for the nations, emphasis on asking God, i read from Hebrews where it talks about Jesus as our High priest. i asked her before reading this if she knew what the function of a priest was, she did, she said that a priest goes to God for you. i then read to her from Hebrews and told her that Jesus is our high priest and that now, she doesnt need anyone to go to God, you can go directly to through Jesus. and next i had elliott say exactly what i said, that you dont need a priest, and that you dont need the virgin mary, to go to God, you go through Jesus, elliott was a little nervous about the outcome, and so was I, but he said it, and she accepted it, so praise God that he is working in her life, and teaching her all that she needs to know. we encouraged her that when she feels lonely, to pray and talk to God, because he will always be there to listen to her.
today is our last day with her, and so im trying to plan out what i will say to her. i have chosen to go the route of we will see each other again in heaven, if not in this life. the passages of scripture i have chosen is john 14, 1 thessilonians 4, and titus 2 11-14. i want to encourage her that while it is sad that we have to leave, God has promised us that we will see each other again.
please be in prayer that the girls that are going to start working with her when we leave will just love her and continue to show her the awesome things God has promised her and given her, now that she is a child of His. thank you for praying for her, and please continue to do so. and as always stay classy planet earth.
in Him
paul
