This month we had team changes during our debrief and we found out that there was going to be another squad having debrief across the street from our contacts house. We deiced to host a dinner for them when they arrived. I sent a message to one of their squad leaders about having a dinner for them for when they arrive and they like that idea.
So the next day we deiced to start planning what we were going to have for them and we decided that sandwiches would be a good idea since they were easy to make. So our contact took us to a bakery and we got 80 buns. We then went to the store to buy some meat and some chips as well as some chips to have with them. We also bought some fruit to make a fruit bowl.
On the day that they were going to arrive we decided to pray over all the beds. We also left a chocolate heart on every pillow. I tried one of them since we had extra and they were not that great. They were in 2 rooms with 12 and 21 beds (triple bunk bed). And their squad was 33 (not including the leadership). The squad leaders were with us and the others were at a different location.
They said that they would arrive in the evening but then we were told they would get in earlier than they planned. So we had to drop what we were doing and get ready for them. Me and one of my team mates went over to get the tables set up over at the church but we found out that we were not going to have it over there and we were going to set it up in the back yard of the contact in their garden. So they started coming over just as we were finishing up with getting things set up for them. We got to talk with some of the people on that squad and they loved hearing what we had to say about the race and what we wish we had known going into month 2.
The days leading up to them coming over we each did listening prayer for each of the teams. We just wrote what we heard God tell us about them and just encourage them with advice and words from the lord for them.
At the end of the their debrief we got to host a big BBQ for them. We cooked sausage and pork chops for them and they loved it. We got to continue to pour into them and just loved on them. It was very refreshing to have time with new world racers for them and for us. On the day of the BBQ we also got to watch the Super Bowl in English. To watch it we needed to use a VPN to make it look like we were in the USA so we could stream it. Every night we also got to join them in worship in the church.
I loved getting to spend time with new World Racers. The best part for me was getting to spend time with new people. I love my squad but it was very refreshing to see new faces and different personalities.
