During our first week in Peru we arrived at a first time contact and when we got there we had the rest of the day off because we just had a long travel day. We enjoyed the rest of that day. So the next day we got up and found out that we had a half day of events planned on our off day. We got to meet the host and do a few other events that he had planned. Normally we get 2 off days but he had planned our off days to not have the evenings off. So thankfully we had a team-mate who can speak Spanish fluently and she explained to him how the World race works with team-time and off days.

So the first day of ministry we went to a village to do a song, a dance and a skit with different colors of the day that related to the Bible. We did a skit on creation the first day (yellow- Creation) with what God created on each day. We showed each day and did lots of animals and acted each of them out. We then tried to play a game but it did not go over very well. We did a dance and hoped they would join us but they did not do it for the first day that we were there. We then had one of the YMAM people that were here to explain what it meant since they speak Spanish fluently. The kids got a snack after we were all done and we left for the day. The next day I was not felling very good so I stayed back. My team did the Chair skit and stopped when everyone was still attached to it(Black-sin)

On the third day we went back and this time the kids were a lot more interactive. We planned a song for them to dance along to. We did a skit where people were trying different ways to get to Jesus, good person, money, ect(Red- Jesus blood). We then acted out what God the Father, God the Sun, God the Holy Spirit talking out what we should do about it. We then Had Jesus walk through the door to get those who were on the other side to Heaven. We followed it up by organized water balloon games but that did not last all that long and it went into a big water balloon fight. We all had a blast playing with the kids and it was over in less than a minute.

On the last day of ministry at the village we did a skit on what happened after doing the chair skit. The chair skit is where you put a chair with a do not touch sign on it and then someone touches it and cannot get off, you can google “YWAM chair skit” and see how it looks. We then showed Jesus coming off the cross to save us from our sin (white – Forgiven). We had one person ignore Jesus since some people chose not to follow him. We also had YWAM explain what it meant since they knew Spanish better than any person on the team. We tried to have organized water balloon games but the kids just wanted to throw them at each other.

The following week we went back and did acted out a parable from the bible about the servant who the king forgave but then went out to people who owed him money and demanded what he was owed rather than forgive the person he demanded the money and since he did not have the money he was thrown in jail. We also did a craft with them with 2 plates a heart and a cross. We put the cross on the first plate and then cut the heart and the other plate in half and went bottom side up on top of the other plate and when you opened the plate on top up you could see the cross.

We had a great time in that village and all the kids we so happy to see us again. We got to start to develop some relationships with them. I would not have mined going back there every day but we had other work to do this month.  We were going back to the village again but since some of my team got back at 2:30am from a wedding for a church member here we did not go.
