Well, I’m glad to be back in Africa. I’ve spent the past 3 weeks working for my friends Bobby and Marsha at an organization called Bless The Children Ministries (BTCM). I’m taking pictures and videos for their ministry to help them explain what they are doing. The biggest need for ministries that I witnessed on the mission field was the need for the ministries to do a better job of telling their stories. Most ministries are started by some very good intentioned missionaries, but few have the skill set to effectively explain to others what they are doing. I noticed some incredible ministries around the world doing great things, but unless they are able to effectively explain what they are doing it is difficult for them to raise the necessary funds to meet the needs of the ministry. Most of these ministries are typically supported by a few churches back in the states. However, as churches cut back budgets these ministries suffer. This is where the body of Christ must step up as a collective and do something to change this trend. The number one reason for missionaries leaving the field is… finances.
This is where my Kingdom Dream comes in. This dream was birthed about 13 years ago, but it wasn’t until my final month on the World Race that God started to reveal more about what this dream might look like. God revealed an idea where I could do consulting work that focuses on helping churches, schools, non-profits, and small businesses (the little guys who tend to be taken advantage of by most industries). The plan would be to provide consulting in the areas of finance, marketing, and metrics. If there are other needs like a professional website designer, graphic designer, computer programmer, or other skills outside of my expertise I would like to refer these businesses to other “missionaries” who need help with support (like someone on staff at AIM or someone connected to a ministry). In addition, I am planning to donate 25% of all profits to fund media mission trips overseas to help churches and non-profits tell their stories through pictures, videos, and websites (all for free). I’ve seen some great ministries overseas. However, most ministries are limited by their funding. My ultimate goal is to work in the states 6-9 months out of the year and work overseas 3-6 months out of the year.
